no. you are basically not renewing his contract and as such he is free to go.

edit: if you meant on a fee* yes of course. you pay him a penalty to cancel his contract which obviously costs money (ie the fee).

If the player is still under contract then you will have to pay them compensation, ie. pay for the rest of their contract.

Yes it does, in effect you are paying him the rest of his contract early, therefore fulfilling your contractual duties, so that you can release him early. It's pointless to use imo, unless he is upsetting the squad.

Always try to upset him as much as you can and attempt to mutually terminate before releasing.

You are obligated to pay the money owed for the rest of the player's contract. Alternatively, if the player wants to leave sometimes he will agree to a 'mutual termination' which will reduce the remaining money owed or void the contract completely.

you can try offering a mutual termination which generally costs you alot less than the original amount (sometimes they go free)

Make him unhappy so that he 'Wants to leave the club' then he will leave for a much lower sum.

When you go to release a player it will tell you how much it will cost unless you ticked the box to not tell you.
