Your Greatest XI

Recommended Posts

There have been some amazing, real life, elite teams of the past: Barcelona's masterful display of Tiqui-Taca football presently, Real Madrid's team of Galácticos at the start of this decade, Manchester United's treble-winning team of 1999, AC Milan of the early 90's, and so on.

I wondered, what's the greatest team that you've ever built? A team, an era even, which made its mark to be able to stand alone as an elite team/period in football history.

Achivement(s): [inc. year(s)]

Team: [11 players (and their positions) + subs if you want]

I'm interested because i'm trying to achieve something similar with Liverpool (we have money ).

Call me crazy, but that starting 11 has 2 keepers and 9 outfield players. Bet your defence was watertight. No wonder you could play so many attacking midfielders. :D

Valdes and LLoris were rotated every other game, sorry could have made that clearer....as for there only being ten outfield players, dont know how I managed that except have been up all night playing FM10 and am knackered. Will clarify my squad with a screeny once I dig it out, 2 secs.:o

This is not as much fun without the screens, but I did so well and I had so much fun with it that I'll post it anyways.

Club: Juventus

Style: Attacking

Achievements: 6(!) consecutive(!!) Serie A titles, 3 Champions League-titles, 4 Italian Cup titles. (Don't remember the World Club Champ and the SuperCoppa, but everyone knows those are just Mickey-Mouse-trophies anyways ;D)

Years 2018-24 iirc (FM 08. My savegame exploded as I was midway through the 24/25-season.)

First team squad:

Best 11:

GK: Antonio Ferrari (Italian regen. The definite best goalie in the world in this period.)

RB: Vittorio Visentin (Italian regen. Young. Decent.)

CB: Arjan Kwakman (Dutch regen. Bought him from Napoli in the 19/20-season. World-class.)

CB: Domenico Criscito (Captain. Performed fantastically until way into his 30s.)

LB: Gareth Bale (Decent. Was pretty much first-choice until he passed 32.)

DMC: Marco Tarquini (Italian-regen. Vice-captain. The best player in the world. No weaknesses, ace stats for defense, attack, creativity and physique.)

MR: Maicol Ancione (Italian regen. Two-footed. Decent looking, great performer.)

ML: Nicolás Adam (French regen. Got a bunch of "World's Best Player"-awards.)

AMC: Mohamed Duriosier (French regen. Maxed creativity and technique.)

ST: Eguene Sobko (Ukranian regen. Tall, fast, technical. The perfect striker.)

ST: Fausto Bortolas (Italian regen. Pretty similar to Sobko, only more creative and less tall.)

MY Greatest XI was way back on CM03/04.

Club: Tottenham

Style: Attacking

Achievements: 4 consecutive Prem titles (2016-2020), 3 Fa Cups and League Cups (I think) in the same period, 7 consecutive Champions League titles (2014-2020)

Team (2019-2020) season:

GK: Tomasso Cossu (Italian regen, best goalkeeper in the world, played even better for his country than club)

DR: Craig Morris (English fullback who came through the youth ranks at Spurs, best right back I've ever had)

DC: Alan Murray (Moved across North London in a £6M move, Arsenal were robbed)

DC: Rui Neves (Portuguese centre back, not quite as good as Murray, but was still world class)

DL: Gary Hackett (Another youth product, great left back, wanted out though during the summer of 2020 after I rejected a bid from Juvetus)

MR: Dean Marney (Was 35 years old!!!, but he was still brilliant)

MC: Danny Guthrie (Regular starter for England and hundred times better than his is in real life)

MC: Matjaz Novak (Slovenian, Best free transfer and player ever, 15 years at the club somehow never won World Player of the Year IIRC)

ML: Johan Elmander (Amazing seeming that later I found out I have played him out of positon for 15 years, retired at the end of the season, Bought in a 20 year old wonderkid from Portsmouth, Kevin Hill for £4M to replace him in the following season.)

ST: Danny Ford (Record Signing £16.5M and record goalscorer in 2018-19)

ST: Alan Ward (Robbie Keane Re-incarnated (because he was Irish), Record goalscorer on his debut season)

Unfortunately, my old computer blew up at the beggining of the 2020-2021 season.

This team won me the league/Champions League double with Hull in my 5th season on FM10.

Ochoa

Azpilicueta

Sakho

Evans

Insua

Afellay

Hamsik

Sandro

Wilshere

Cavani

Milyevski

The core of it went on to win another 3 leagues in a row, another 2 Champions Leagues 2 F.A Cups and 1 League Cup in the seasons after that. I then got bored after like 8 seasons. The game seems to get too easy after that 'breakthrough year', it's been like that for a few FM's though.

Cool thing about it was I had a strict £40,000 a week wage limit on the whole team, and never once went over that.
