Is it possible to have player coaches?

It's just Fabregas keeps saying he wants to become a coach but I cannot offer him a coach contract.

Must i wait till he actually retires or will the option be available beforehand?

Yes, they can. I think the player must be in the last year before retirement before he will sign a player/staff contract.

Question: does a player/coach count toward the Board's limit on the number of coaches?

you must wait until he develops staff attributes then you can hire him as a player coach. he is most likely saying he wants to become a coach when he has had enough of just being a player. I have had an extremely good player coach before who started off as a player and is now an extremely important scout

as soon as they say they plan tor etire, if they are going to become a coach it becomes possible.

you can make them reconsider and they can stay on as a player coach still
