Clueless defenders - Needs to be fixed

This isn't a rant nor rage post, but considering how big of an issue this is, I think we need a thread for it.

In my last game, 70 mins in, I conceded two goals like this (black lines show origin of the pass):

(slotted home the one on one in a fashion one of my strikers would NEVER score.

My defenders aren't bad at all, this is just plain bad Match Engine.

Not a rant at all, just pointing it out. I'm sure other people have plenty other examples they could post.

Yep, it's being looked at and hopefully fixed.

I agree. The defending is shocking. I don't think its a tactics problem because its just basic stuff a defender should do and none of my changes have any effect anyway. Zonal/Man, tight/lose, Closing down little/lots, whatever. It doesnt seem to change the ME in the slightest.

i have lots of problems getting my defenders to follow instructions.

For what it's worth, I find player with 3 DCs gets rid of some troubles.

nobody wants to play with three DCs though, I did on fm09, but meh, scares the **** out of me when the opponent attacks the wings.

I was thinking that 2 because that would fill the massive gap they leave down the centre but I didnt want to change it.

I'm currently doing it. 3-4-3-, and my wingers track back when the opponent has the ball. It's basically a 5-2-3 then. The wingers don't have to do much but make sure they can't cross.
