'Cannot Run Game. Failed to Set up Graphics System'

I KNOW this is probably a graphics card problem. BUT.

I've had this game working before, on this very same computer. I installed Windows 7, wiped my computer clean, reinstalled it, everything said it was completed successfully, but now I can't play it.

I haven't downgraded anything, haven't put in a different graphics card or anything.

I'm shocked that it doesn't work on Windows 7 though. I almost started crying, since I only have limited internet.

Help me please!

If you wiped your computer clean you will have deleted the software that enables your graphics card to function properly. If you have limited internet access then you will need to find the CD that came with your graphics card that contains the original drivers and graphics control suite.

You will also have deleted a large number of other drivers, software updates etc. for your other components. A complete system reboot is not something you should attempt unless you know what you are doing and have all the relevant drivers and software on CD or portable memory to enable you to reinstall all your hardware properly.

Try this from the FAQ thread:

Please download the following update from the Microsoft Direct X SDK:

When downloading this file please use the Firefox browser as some people have encounter difficulties when using Internet Explorer.

You should also check that you are running the latest graphics driver, you can do this by visiting the computer manufacturer website, or by visiting the graphics card manufacturing website.

Also if you are running Steam, make sure this is not running when attempting to install

I didn't do it, I had a technician do it. I might try reinstalling my graphics drivers. Thanks.

If you contact Customer Services they may be able to put some stuff on a disk and send it to you, if you're really struggling. It does sound like either graphics card drivers or DirectX that needs upgrading, especially after a re-install.

Kudos. That's not an offer I have seen before and I have tried to play some trully broken games.

Heh - it's probably illegal to copy MS's stuff onto disk as well. If you never see me post again, that'll be why...
