Playing for 2 nations

On fm2010 can a player play for one country gain nationality for another country as well and play for that other country. Here is an exmple of what I mean:

Say there's a player called Danny Kennedy (I made it up), he is from england and plays for Bolton, he gets 30 caps for england and the next season he leaves Bolton for Kitchee in Hong Kong. He lives there for the required amount of years and gets Hong Kong as his second nationality and in a few months time becomes a regular for Hong Kong and plays his first 5 games for them.

Is this possible in FM2010.?

No he cannot, as in real life no player who has represented one country at senior level can change over his nationality to another. Now if the caps the player you mentioned were all gained at underage level then he would be elegible for the Hong Kong national side.

I'm not sure how it is now, but I know Ferenc Puskás played for Hungary, waited five years, then played for Spain. I imagine the rules have however changed, so that you can't play for two nations.

That rules long changed. I think the only exception to this now is if a country breaks up such as Yugoslavia. Robert Prosinecki, for example, played for Yugoslavia, and then Croatia after Yugoslavias break up.

still hapening today any player who played for serbia montenegro and hasnt been called up to either of the nations has the choice to play for either!
