Pitch sizes

Recommended Posts

Something that has always confused me, and possible others.

What size is considered narrow?

What size is considered wide?

What size is condsidered long?

What size is considered short?

I have heard that these play a vital role into tactics, and my scout sometimes tells me who i should play on an opponents pitch.

My current home pitch size is 102m x 65m,

How should i play on this?

Will be interested to know if anyone eles considers this when setting up there tactics,

Thanks.

Not really sure of the first part - there's generally only a few yards difference in pitch size because they are usually required to be a certain size by the league. But I know how it relates to tactics:

If you like to play short passing, quick tempo pressing football, you want a narrow pitch so your players dont get nackered. If you like to play more direct football use a bigger pitch. Not exactly sure how it works but I know it does!

I usually judge off the options at the beginning of the season.

Also I'm not sure if it changes from country to country.

Around 55m is the narrowest I've seen while around 110m I think is the longest. Yours seems fairly average - Not narrow, not wide, not long, not short.
