Corner takers

So I win a corner about 85 minutes in. As my players jog forward, I realise with horror that none of my three listed corner takers for that side are on the field. In this situation, you'd expect the game to select a midfielder, perhaps, with a reasonable corners stat to go up and take the corner.

But no, my centre-back, who has 5 for corners, runs up to do it instead, and fortunately punts it straight out of play rather than giving away possession and being caught out of position.

Why? Can it not just automatically default to the best corner-taker?

Happens to me quite often too.

They won't get caught out of position because usually they'd be up there attempting to head it. So don't worry you're safe even if it stays in play. Still annoying that they keep on getting selected. You'd think the game would choose any attacking midfielder automatically as opposed to your centre backs.
