View Full Version : Where are the fullbacks?
OK let us talk about something serious now.
Have you noticed the complete absence of quality fullbacks as the game progresses? You can find lots of players for positions like AMC, DMC, DC and ST.
But DR or DL? The best one will have about 75% positional rating. Why is that?

its your tactics
Lol!
@OP: Yeah, I've noticed that too, the vast majority of players with potential at the start of the game are a forward of some sort
I'm having trouble finding good wingers too. I have a few decent fullbacks but nothing to write home about.

Tbh, there aren't that many good LB/RB in real life.
Anyway, in regard to the actual game, I have the opposite problem. Good full backs are there in abundance (although there aren't many world class ones) but the central areas, paticularly the CD/DM/CM/AM is seeing a distinct lack of good players. Plently of good strikers though
I'm finding the same, all the brilliant players I'm finding are for central positions.
This (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/15EmreCanetin.png) is probably the best looking young full back I've found.

I was thinking the same thing. Still, it would be nice to have some good ones coming through.

I've found an abundance of full-backs. Too many probably. Mostly Brazillian, strangely enough. Who admittedly aren't too good at tackling.
I struggle to find right-wingers, so maybe I should buy a few full-backs and retrain them.
Must be individual experiences.

I have two young regen fullbacks, Nunez and Granier, who are my first choice for Arsenal despite only being 18/19. Nunez is keeping out Sagna, only 3rd season in too.
I'll post screenshots when I'm back on my computer.

Yeah, they have a tradition of that... Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Rafinha, Serginho and so on :p
Offensive fullbacks.

I've managed to fine ONE good full back, poential of 4 stars. Struggling for right wingers too. MILLIONS of left wingers.
I have one, though primarily a CB, can also play LB/LWB. He has a very high PA. I only checked because my scouts said he wasn't that good, but to me he appeared very good, for his young age of course. Then Chelsea signed a N. Irish one who has better stats than Bosingwa at age 18 or so. And there was an Argentinian one who refuses to leave Argentina. (Really. I, Barcelona, Arsenal, R. Madrid, and I think Chelsea all offered him contracts, and he refused all of them to go play at River Plate or Boca Juniors, can't remember which.)
So that makes 3 in about 3 years, which seems a bit high tbh.

Your right, he is handsome. :)lol
Stats look quite good to though.
In my game there is nothing but quality regen fullbacks! :D There is a lack of world-class center backs due to poor positioning and jumping, and world class attacking midfielders or wingers are also rare because of poor off the ball attribute.

Are you going to train him to play on the left? Bit strange he's left only footed but a right sided player.

It is a bit odd, but my left back is a lot better than my right back, so I could really do with this kid making it as a right back.

Plenty of good fullbacks, and I'm still with version 10.1. But I struggle to find a decent winger / inside forward...
Had a great DR/WBR and a WBL on my Inter save. The WBL was actually a retrained AML, but in the first few seasons he was the best regen I'd found.

Diego Renan, Gonzalo Castro, Cuadrado, Beck, Fanchone, Schwaab, Helan, Opare, Santon, Bale, N'Koulou, Corchia are just a couple young lateral defenders off the top of my head. Given a good PA roll for those with -potentials and proper development they all can turn out top quality players.
The ones listed also cover a variety of roles and price ranges. Add the regens after two or three seasons in and there are arguably more really good prospects in game than in real life. Good fullbacks are very very rare.

I suppose that's true. I have Lahm and Srna for my Man City left and right backs. Lahm has been particularly impressive, but Srna is no longer as good as he was in FM 2009. Also I have been struggling to find right attacking midfielders as well except Ronaldo and Messi. Ribery and Modric are fairly good but not particularly great at the right flank. I guess I might have to buy Messi next year after I win the UCL.

Did you consider Dzagoev and Alexis Sanchez ? Depending on what the specific role of your AMR is, both can be superb. Diego Renan would be an outstanding prospect for a more withdrawn right midfielder role, but very few managers use that these days.
