2Pacalypse
Are defensive midfielders "obligated" to receive a yellow card every game? sometimes just to make it faster, they get one in the first minute or something like that, then go through the rest of the game without getting the second. Javi Garcia had 20 something yellow cards in 26 games and 3 red cards .. on the third red card he got mad at me because he got a 1 week fine .. like he's a saint.. Josué (my other Def. Mid.) has the same problem. PS: Tackling is set to "normal".
Tom14
Maybe he's not the best tackler in the World. Or maybe he's playing against players of greater skill. Or maybe his pressing is too high causing opponents to dribble past him so he has to hack them down. Maybe he has a high dirtiness rating. Could be a variety of things. Are all his cards for fouls, or are some for arguing with officials.
rob110481
i have never had problems with my defensive mid he very rarely gets 5 yellows a season
ObaMartins09
Alan Smith is the biggest criminal of this, playing in a ball winning midfield role. At first I realised that the role had hard tackling, but even when set to easy he gets a booking every game almost. I guess it's down to his high aggression and low tackling ability. crouchaldinho
i have never had problems with my defensive mid he very rarely gets 5 yellows a season I play with two DMs and experience the same as the poster above. C.
llama3
so much to consider in it - how hard the tackling, other aspects like tackling rating, anticipation, dirtiness. also consider the position of the player, are they making tackles from the side, behind, are these covering tackles on the counter, etc
Yid Army
Not sure, but it could be something to do with putting players out of their best position, causing them to be in the wrong place due to their inexperiance at the role and having to make crazy tackles to try and get the ball? ArsenalFan7
Agreed, Diarra and Song get a hell alot of cards per season on my save, they will get a few reds and a lot of yellows.
baker.simon
The nature of the position means there is more of a chance of recieving yellow cards aswell.
nev147
I had a player that had the same problem, he got so many yellow cards and also about 4 red cards in one season.............. he was sold at the end of the season!
Müller1469564937
I agree with the OP. My defensive midfielders are absolutely brutal. They're guaranteed to pick up a booking every game. Tackling's never set to "hard" and nothing in their attributes suggests that they should be as wreckless as they are (aggression, tackling, etc.)
css_matt
I get this with Miguel Veloso on Norm Tackling. Unbelieveable amount of sending offs from 2 yellow cards. 3rd suspension by end of october..
Indi75
I've got Masch on 15 from about 36 games. Seems normal here. I've got him on hard tackling and he's doing the job nicely. I'll settle for the odd yellow when I've only conceded 11 EPL goals. Veloso not booked yet in my portuguese game - 26 games in.
Bradmonk
my DM's do get quite a few yellow cards but i dont notice any trend to it. but I accept its going to happen since they always make most tackles per game
BungleFish
i dont get this with Gago, he went most of the season without getting booked actually, but then Delph sitting just in front of him got all the bookings, i think Gago was throwing Delph at players! Priim3ra
Well, Lassana Diarra had 24 yellows and about 3 reds in one season..
Administrators Neil Brock Posted December 30, 2009 Administrators Share Posted December 30, 2009 Yeah I have to keep an eye on anyone playing that role, saying that I'd say my bloody CB's pick up more bookings. I had Rivas at Newcastle get five red cards in a season (although he does have aggression 20!)
nine_iron
I play that formation in a formation for the tough matches, I have a nice setup and it usually can eek me out a draw. I have not noticed this, maybe its because it isnt the standard formation I use.
2Pacalypse
Well, i guess my tactic doesn't help him, i'm managing Benfica, so playing in Portugal there are only two other teams that in theory may cause problems, and thats one of the reasons i play offensively ......*...... ....*..*.... .*........*. ......*...... .*..*.*..* ......*..... sorry if thats a little confusing as you can see, it looks like a christmas tree lol, there's a big space between my defensive midfielder and the two offensive midfielders, in this case, javi garcia has to "clean" that area pretty much alone, since there's no support he might make a few more fouls than i think he should hence the large number of yellow cards. Bradmonk
lol. I should look at the aggression of my back 5, I bet their wimps since they rarely get booked
