I would like to think that I will experience both Loser and Legend in this game. Other than success, my other goal is learning many languages.

First job. 8-7-09. Cork City.

I would post backround info but does anyone read it ? I dont.

The team were 3rd in the Irish Premier Division whe I took over but finances werent great. One of my first actions was to sell star midfielder Joe Gamble for 500k. Good player but better money.

July

Derry (A) 2-1
Shamrock Rovers (H) 3-2
Drogheda (A) 3-0
Galway (A) 1-2
Sligo (H) 3-1

Good month which left me top of the league although not in reality as Bohs had 3 games in hand. Galway done me with a 4-1-4-1 and they deserved their win.

Good luck mate

What's the expectation level like at Cork City?

Also when does the Irish season run? If I remember rightly they are half way through by the time The British Leagues start. When playing in N.Ireland I always struggled against teams from the ROI in the all Ireland Cup because my players were not match fit and still playing the pre season friendlies, while the Irish teams were well into their season and firing on all cylinders.

AUGUST

Dundalk (A) 0-1
Wexford (H) 1-0 FAI CUP
Drogheda (H) 3-0
St Pats (A) 1-1 SETANTA CUP

Good month, I dont care about the Setanta Cup really. Would have liked to beaten Wexford by more with them being in the 1st but ah well.

SEPTEMBER

St Pats (H) 3-1
Galway (H) 1-0
Derry (H) 2-0
Kildare (H) 1-0 FAI CUP ( Q-F )
Bohs (H) 1-2

I enjoyed beating Galway but they played well again. In the cup semi with a win over another team from the division below. Losing to Bohs has hurt our title push and also showed how much of a better side they are, they really blew us away but I was still hurt by their last minute winner after us equalising in the 85th.

OCTOBER

Linfield (H) 2-1 SETANTA CUP
Bray (A) 2-1
Rovers (A) 1-1
Waterford (A) 1-1 FAI CUP ( S-F )
Bohs (A) 0-2
Waterford (H) 4-2 FAI CUP ( S-F REP )
Sligo (A) 1-0

Title challenge effectively ended with another defeat to Bohs but I was happy to qualify for the cup final even if I did need a replay against our 1st division opponents.

NOVEMBER

Pats (H) 2-1 SETANTA CUP
Drogheda (A) 3-2
Dundalk (H) 3-1
Derry (A) 1-1

Galway (N) 1-0 FAI CUP FINAL

Bohs won the league but second is great. Delighted with the cup win.

A couple of days after our cup win I resigned as Cork boss. Alot of players were leaving on Bosmans and I didnt feel the resources were there to improve the side so I went out a winner.

Cork City on a Sunday League reputation?!

You do know they hired Roddy ( affectionatly known as Shoddy ) Collins irl and their chairmen has just been banned from football for 12months.

I was surprised too but I wouldnt put it past Coughlan to hire any randomer if he applied, sure there is a team in Malta who think Collins is their manager and they didnt know anything about him getting the Cork job.

Basket Case. Best way of describing that club.

I left on the 29-11-09 and picked up a new job on the 28-12-09 but it was with Australian Institute of Sport a team
playing in the Australian Youth League against the youth teams of A-League sides.
I didnt want to be there but was thinking that this would be a good chance to win a league. I was only allowed sign U-21's. When doing my fixtures all my opponents are youth sides and not the real team.

JANUARY

Adelaide (H) 1-0
Melbourne (A) 0-2
Perth (A) 0-0
Newcastle (H) 0-0
Central Coast Marines (A) 1-0

I tried playing a wierd 3-4-3 Diamond. Mixed results.

FEBRUARY

Brisbane (A) 2-1
Sydney (H) 1-1

I resigned 29-6-10. Bit of a stupid team.

Stevenage (H) 0-1

Tried a 4-6-0 after Gateshead but this is bad now, still 23th and am out of ideas. Will go back to the tactical drawing board now and attempt a simple solid 4-4-2 to hopefully keep us up.

Kettering (A) 0-1
Soham (H) 0-1 FA TROPHY 1st ROUND
Wrexham (A) 2-5
Oxford (H) 0-1

Have gone back to the drawing board with a simple 4-4-2 this month. The FA Trophy defeat was a horrible embarrasment but I was happy with the fight we put up against Wrexham, who are a good side. Same against Oxford but I am beggining to feel that survival is beyond us now.

York (H) 1-2
Rushden (A) 0-2
Newport (A) 0-1
Luton (H) 0-2
Cambridge (A) 0-4
Woking (H) 0-0

Defeat against Newport ends our hopes of survival realistically. At 1 nil down we get 3 men sent of in the 10 minute before h-t, obviously the floodgates opened. The draw against Woking at least stopped the losing streak but does'nt do alot for us.
I am the new Pakistan manager which is cool as one of my first signings for Dover is a Pakistani. He along with the other 2 that got sent off were fined 2 weeks wages, cue mass hysteria and protest accross the squad, feck off. Resignation time ?

APRIL

Dundalk (H) 5-0
Bray (H) 2-0
Pats (A) 1-5
Pats (A) 0-2 SETANTA CUP S-F 2ND LEG
Derry (H) 2-1
Bohs (H) 0-3

What a start as we destroy Dundalk but then Pats send us crashing back to reality, luckily we were 3-0 up from the 1st leg so are in the final :D.

MAY

Kerry (H) 3-0 LEAGUE CUP 2nd ROUND
Drogheda (A) 0-0
Cork (N) 0-0p SETANTA CUP FINAL
Cork (A) 0-0
St. Mary's 5-0 FAI CUP

Y that is the plan but there seems to be a sever lack of quality in Japan. I was sifting through the transfer page of the top league and I recognise some of the players as lads I have just scouted and are only 2 or 3 stars.

I dont think I am capable of attracting the top tier of players but will need to just get through this season and then reasses my squad.

I had plenty of bids accepted but noe lured him here, my sweet talking in the press only seemed to push him away. I have since put in a loan bid but now Chigago have joined the party. Busy month, February. Have completed the 1m signing of a Brazilian CB who will join us in May and have a striker coming in 2018, he is 16 and Brazilian and if he starts devolping it could well turn out to be an incentive to stay. We signed a left winger from Fluminense for 1million and a Columbian ST from Vasco for 400k, he managed to upset people by demanding the team be built around him and that this a stepping stone. Another striker joined him later for 1.2m, this time Brazilian, Lincoln is a good name and he better perform. We also signed two Japanese players on frees. a CM and a ST, they are'nt great but will pad out the squad. Unless I bring in another ST I think I will be playing wth one up top and one of those strikers can be "the 5th foreigner" ie not in the first 11. I have a 3.4m transfer budget budget left with 70k left for wages so I am still looking for players and am not afraid to spend. I have had loan offers accepted for two Japanese lads abroad and I hope they come over. I know this is long but I usually write short updates so you cant complain :D

I sold a young foreign winger for 900,000 and this allowed me to register a young Brazilian CB who came earlier in the season. We are a bit short on the wings now but I am trying to train the wingers to opposite side for some more options. The league is so tight now that a bad run could easily have us 12th or worse. Month started in delight as we turned over the league leaders but soon turned sour as we lost a two goal lead and had to score an equaliser at the death to salvage anything from our following match then threw away another two goal lead. We were hammered in our penultimate games of the month and suddenly the season is dead. I may aswell holiday the rest of the season as we have nothing at all to play for. I sold Nei as at 29 he wouldnt sign a new contract and I got 700k for him. That Brazilian CB has been awful and alot of our young players are complaining of media pressure.

Not easy to get by on 300/week, so don't have the funds to go off into far lands to get some sun and tasty food.

I actually wish I was able to play like that. Would get through seasons a lot faster. I play every match trying to get something out of it, am even checking the reports the scouts bring back all the time, as I'm always looking to improve the squad. There are times when I'm just losing and losing, and then I sometimes just go from match to match without doing anything. But usually it's slow picking. Probably means I get more success than otherwise, at least I hope so, but progress is quite slow.

Soooo, a pretty lame end to the season, I took it easy and holidayed the matchdays. Exceot for our cup tie with Giravanz of the league above. We held them until extra time and it left me wondering if we should have taken more risks. I am just about finishing December and have already signed numerous players. It will be interesting to see my budgets. I was disgusted to see the shareholders take over a million in dividends, just as we were completeing a big signing too. Now we can look forward to a fresh season.

17-1-2017, the season starts as I recieve my budgets.

I got a transfer budget of 10m and a wage budget of 90k, only half of which is used. All of this on the expectation of a top half finish.

I dont plan on spending all that money but If a player comes up then I wont say no.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR   I just wrote up this whole month and lost it so now I have to relive it.
It doesnt look that bad but it was. With the money I had invested in this squad and with the year that my young squad had to mature I was expecting big things. At 2-1 down to Galeos I took the rest of the day off and said I would give it another shot so I changed formations but when we went 2-0 down early to Sapporo I knew my time was over. You cant resign on a matchday apparently so I took a one day holiday again and resigned the next day. We had two lads sent off in our opener and when I fined both one weeks wages there was a squad uprising. I enjoyed most of my time here so I left with a heavy heart but I knew I had out sayed my welcome and it was time.

The month started in spectacular fashion as we turned over the champions. A late strike by my Italian midfield meastro gave us the win we deserved as we were brilliant. He did it again in the next match but sadly agreed a free transfer to Torino after, as it stands I will only have 2 foreigners next year. We were undone by Niigata who took the chances and won easily even though we dominated shots and possesion. Our first loss in 15. Luckily though we bounced back in front of 30000 people and beat Okayama with another late goal, again deserved. We lie 7th after 24 games with 35 points. Safe ?

Giurare Yokohama (A) 3-1

Short September for us here but a good one. The win away to Yokohama was brilliant as they are massive club here and have been runners-up 3 years in a row and are still in the Champions League.

OCTOBER

Hachioji Tigre (H) 0-1
Hamamatsu Rafale (A) 0-1
Sapporo Mythos (H) 0-0
Sting Chiba (A) 0-0
Himeji Blues (H) 4-2
Vortis 2nd (H) 5-0 EMPEROR'S CUP 4th Rnd

Big month where our season ended. I holidayed from somewhere in this month but I forget where. Our dream of 4th place ( we were one place and 3 places away at one stage ) was dashed by end of season tiredness and disharmony in the squad as players want out. Of course a Cup win would be amazing it will be tough.

NOVEMBER

Higashiosaka Rosa (A) 0-1
Fukuoka Blaze (A) 2-1 EMPEROR'S CUP 5th Rnd
Kitakyusyu Blanco (H) 2-1

We finish 7th and end a brilliant first season up. The cup dream stays alive and we are in the Quarter finals now. I dont know if I can take this team further, I am losing two starting players for free's, leaking money every month, and upstart players causing disharmony. The only way from here, unfortunately may be down.

DECEMBER

Lynx Matsuyama (A) 2-1 EMPEROR'S CUP QTR FINAL

Unremarkable win against a team from the league below, we didnt play well but we are in the semi's now and anything is possible.

Nagoya Stolz (H) e2-1 EMPEROR'S CUP SEMI - FINAL

We are going to . . . wherever the final is. We have a good record against these but went 1 down on 65 only for Dominici to pull us level 5 minutes later, the game trickled into extra-time where our Italian talisman Alessandro De Laurentiis scored with 8 minutes left.

Hachioji Tigre (N) 2-1 EMPEROR'S CUP FINAL

Champions. Lets go ****ing mental, were going continental la la la la  De Laurentiis fired us in front after 20 minutes and we held off the champions valiently until they equalised after an hour but amazingly De Laurentiis nudged us ahead again with yet another goal from midfield. Oh how we will miss him next year. We held on and claimed victory to cap a wonderful season. SUCCESS !!!!!! OH HOW I MISSED YOU.
