TomWest
Finished first season, but it seems like managers aren't sacked as often as they should be. Wikipedia tells me that there are usually anywhere from 8 to 12 managerial changes a year for big leagues such as the Premier League or Serie A. Yet after one season (from July '09 to July '10) these were the sackings: Premier League West Ham sacks Zola - May 9th Portsmouth sacks Hart - May 9th Serie A Palermo sacks Zenga - May 16th All three sackings came the day they were relegated. Meanwhile Gareth Southgate is still in Boro after finishing 11th in the Championship, Phil Brown stays on with Hull at the foot at the table, and so on. Also, though I've loaded 20 leagues, I've only had 68 total sackings around the world. Four sackings a league (granted that USA and Russia run on different calendars) seems too low. Of course, this is an incredibly small sample size, so it would be really cool if my season was an anomaly. Anyone else see similar results or not? vincenzo incendio
I haven't seen a lot in the prem.... a couple in Italy, though. For some reason the Brazil job came open after the first round of the world cup, even tho they qualified and went on to win the tournament without a manager, IIRC. Bananinha
And it's even slower in the Brazilian league, IRL is a sack-fest.
daidaithesequel
In the Spanish La Liga it seem likes there is a sacking every 2 months, they are flying out the door, but saying that i have only really noticed one sacking in the English Premier League and that was Portsmouth sacking Hart in January of 2011
ATW
Not got any data on hand but I would be shocked if it is 8-12 managers a season in the Premiership
TomWest
Not got any data on hand but I would be shocked if it is 8-12 managers a season in the Premiership For last season (08-09) it was: Five sacked managers Juande Ramos--Tottenham Roy Keane (technically a resignation)--Sunderland Paul Ince--Blackburn Tony Adams--Portsmouth Luiz Felipe Scolari--Chelsea Three resignations Alan Curshibley--Newcastle Kevin Keegan--West Ham Ricky Sbragia--Sunderland Season before that (07-08) it was: Five sacked Sammy Lee--Bolton Martin Jol--Tottenham Chris Hutchings--Wigan Lawrie Sanchez--Fulham Avram Grant--Chelsea Four by mutual consent Jose Mourinho--Chelsea Billy Davies--Derby Sam Allardyce--Newcastle Sven-Goran Erickkson--Manchester City And the above doesn't include clubs purchasing managers from one another (Hughes leaving Blackburn, etc.) nor medical leaves. I admit that saying 8 to 12 sackings is too specific, but the spirit of the argument remains the same.
