Hershie
When does this error occur? While playing, or while loading the newly created data?

Administrators Neil Brock Posted December 10, 2009 Administrators Share Posted December 10, 2009 Yeah try running the default database - you may have changed something in the editor that has screwed up the game. Let me know, thanks.

Hershie
The editor works differently to FM09's, and there are a known issues to be resolved with it. Hopefully you'll get it sorted.

nev147
what issue's ? Compatibility issues I think- if you change something in the editor then it can have an adverse knock on effect I think and hence errors are created.
Hershie
Compatibility issues I think- if you change something in the editor then it can have an adverse knock on effect I think and hence errors are created. Issues with the occasional clash of IDs between files, and the very occasional error in XML text I think.
richard weston
FFS!!! I've uninstalled / installed and it is still saying " serious error has occured "
Hershie
Are you still trying to run with the edited data XML running? When you create a game, go into the options to choose which XMLs to load and deselect it. Then see if a game will create.

If your not sure about this post your dxdiag file and someone here should be able to tell you if anything needs updated.
Rice2cu
After editing your data, choose "Save data file as" and you should see another file in the location where you are saving the edited data... I believe it is called config? Delete that file, save your edited data and try to launch your new game again. Once you have launched FM, remember to click "Change" when you are at the database load up screen, this will give you the option to load any edited files you have saved. If you dont get the option to delete the config file, it must be located somewhere else. I cant remeber where I saw this so let me know if this dont work and I'll try find the link to the relevant post for you.
Themistofelis
xml data files checked by the editor so they do not conflict can cause game to crash? This is very interesting .
