My player dissapeared!

I am playing as Sheff Utd in the premiership in my second season and during the transfer windows, one of my players just joined another club, without me ever recieving a bid for him. His history page says that he went for £2.2m, but i haven't recieved that money. I've checked my inbox and there are no messages i may have accidently missed about it, it doesn't even say anything about it. The really weird thing is, I can still offer him a contract and set his transfer status as if he is my player! Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Please help me out if you do. If it helps, I did sell a player who plays the same position in my team at around that time, for £2.1m. Don't think that has any connection but maybe, does make it doubly annoying though as now i have no cover at all.

Looks like a bug. I was thinking the money issue could just be in parts, as in over a period of time but the fact he doesn't appear int he history page is a little strange. Did your computer crash or did you quit at that stage by any chance?

No didn't crash or anything, I had played one game and he was playing, then i went into my next game team selection and he was still shown on the pitch in his position but was not in my squad anymore.
