Win 7 X64 FM 2010 wont work

I tried to install on a Win 7 x64 and FM 2010 wont work. Its starts to load a few of the first screens then it just goes black. I even patched it to 10.1.1 still the same but it works on my old XP machine.

Any ideas?

Damn that was a long post. I ran it on my Win7 Ultimate x64 with no problems. Actually there were occasional 30-second freezes but probably not the game's problem.

Well it's not 7, and the freezes are not OS related, but they do occur on XP, Vista, 7, and I've managed to reproduce it on the girlfriends Mac.

Works just fine on windows 7 x64. You need to update your directx files.

From your post it looks like you are running Direct X 11 which is the most current. You can try going to the microsoft website and searching for it and downloading the Direct X SDK. Go to your manufacturers website, find your specific product number, and download all the latest drivers for your system. That's the only thing I can really think of if you just purchased it. If you did an upgrade from Vista you might want to just try a complete fresh install and then downloading all the latest drivers after fresh install.

I'd suggest deleting the following files and trying to run it again, let me know how you get on:

First of all you need to turn on hidden files and folders.

IN XP: Go to My Computer and at the top select 'Tools' the 'Folder Options'. The go to the 'View' tab and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

IN VISTA: Go to My Computer and at the top select 'Organize' then 'Folder and Search Options'. The go to the 'View' tab and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

Once this is done, follow the instructions below:

Windows XP:

1. Open “My Computer”

2. Navigate to : “Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\

3. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder.

4. Delete the “Football Manager 2010” Folder.

Windows Vista:

1. Click “Start”

2. Click your username on the start Menu

3. Click on “AppData” and then “Roaming”

4. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder

5. Delete the “Football Manager 2010” Folder.

These are all wrong, no wonder you can't run it. Just kidding I have no idea

You might have to install the windows 7 64bit drivers for your card. These are latest ones that I could find available from the website.

Those are Drivers for 4870 Not 5870. I have the latest Driver for the 5870 for Win7 64bit and its beta

I'd suggest deleting the following files and trying to run it again, let me know how you get on:

First of all you need to turn on hidden files and folders.

IN XP: Go to My Computer and at the top select 'Tools' the 'Folder Options'. The go to the 'View' tab and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

IN VISTA: Go to My Computer and at the top select 'Organize' then 'Folder and Search Options'. The go to the 'View' tab and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

Once this is done, follow the instructions below:

Windows XP:

1. Open “My Computer”

2. Navigate to : “Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\

3. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder.

4. Delete the “Football Manager 2010” Folder.

Windows Vista:

1. Click “Start”

2. Click your username on the start Menu

3. Click on “AppData” and then “Roaming”

4. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder

5. Delete the “Football Manager 2010” Folder.
