Player taking forever to learn languages?

Hi,

I'm in charge of Zenit in my save.I signed a few players in my first season and now two plus years down the line some of them still don't even know basic Russian.

Also Danny was with Russian clubs for SIX years and couldn't become a citizen because he didn't know basic Russian.Although a few months layer he did have basic russian.

It seems that the players who don't play as often take longer than players who do to learn the language.

I've got a Romanian in my team who hasn't learnt Basic English after almost 3 years. He has played almost every game in that time period.

Well that's my theory gone.Maybe I'm just signing "slow" players.

I noticed on the editor theres a setting for how difficuilt the language was to learn.

This will affect it i imagine also players abaptability, determination and willingness to learn.

I face the same issue while playing w/ clubs from Turkey..

I think this is quite realistic, you do get the odd player with poor language skill. Robert Pires for example admitted himself he couldn't speak English well in all the years he spent at Arsenal. I might have to request a school to be built along with upgrading my training facilities

A player's adaptability stat also affects how well he does when moving to a new country.

fabian delph can't speak even basic italian after 2 seasons in italy.

artem milevskyi still doesn't speak english in my game after 4 seasons

I think this feature is better than before. In previous games, most players would learn full language by 3 years in the country. Now it varies. I get some Spaniards who learn the language in a year and a half, fully, and then I had a Russian who never learned even a basic understanding of the language in the five years he spent with me. It also seems most Europeans (maybe Eastern less so) will learn English quicker, especially Dutch and Scandinavians, who are usually created with a full/basic understanding of English, which in my experience is true; most Dutch and Scandinavians I know (a lot of people!) are very good at English).

I'm playing as Liverpool, and at the start of my third season Aquilanni still can't speak a word of English, and therefore every game my AssMan points out he's having trouble communicating.

some languages in game are harder to learn than others, plus players have a hidden stat linked to their ability to learn

It has something to do with both adaptablilty and how difficult the language is.

Have you seen a Cristian Ronaldo commercial? Driving some car: "some places, different places, other places..." something like that. He sounds like he never spoken the language after how many, 5 years in Man Utd.

Have you seen an interview with Cristiano Ronaldo? He speaks English fine.

The advert he would have been reading from a script, so would have no bearing on his English whatsoever...

Akinfeev took about 2 years to get basic English for me, so it does look like vastly different languages to the players mother tongue take longer to learn - i.e. English/Russian

Fm 2008 was comical - a regen striker from Finland only learnt basic English despite being at Blackburn from when he was 18 till he was 29.
