Here we have an ex-Chelsea starlet, who joined AZ but then left that club at the end of the 10/11 season, and is not attached to any club. But in the u21 Euro Qualifiers he is still playing internationally and is the top goalscorer for the whole of the Qualifiers. Would this boost his chance of a club signing him? Yeah but that happens quiet a bit were players are technically out of contract during the world cup, what the OP refers to is a player out of contract for a period during a season and is still playing international ball.
