Scottish Cups

Recommended Posts

As stated above. They are both reconised comps.

The League cup or IRL Co-operative Insurance cup is the cup that has all "Professional" league teams in. I "" Proffesional as the lower league still have alot of semi-pro teams. Where as the Scottish cup plays the non-league teams as well such as Spartans who have done well in the competition a few times.

The Challenge cup (which IRL is shown on BBC Alba) is there for the teams below the SPL. This allows the smaller clubs a chance to win something. Although in recent years there where 3 first division runner up to the scottish cup in a row. Anyways This involves all the Irn-Bru leagues (1st - 3rd) and is meant to actually be the most competitive in Scotland

As some additional info, most of the bigger clubs in the SPL, excluding the Old Firm will consider the League Cup important enough that you should reach the quarters or semis, making it one of the most toughest challenges because despite it being worth nothing other than prestige (no Euro place for winning it). As for the Challenge Cup, as this season's IRL final proved it's a competition that the best of the Division 1 teams should be winning.
