FM2008 - In-game editor - is there such thing??

Excuse my ignorance, but I have had a look at FMScount and FMgenie is it and am still a little unsure as to what they are? Neither seem to explain very well what they do and I'm unsure whether to download these without fully knowing the benefits first?

I was looking for something that means I could play FM2008 and be able to update things as I go which would then be saved for future games that I would play, i.e clubs that players play for, the ability of certain players etc etc, Is such a thing available? Is either of the above such a thing?
