[bug] gerrard and very unsportsmanlike behaiour

Recommended Posts

was playing a match last night against liverpool, when my keeper throws the ball out to my defender, somehow while doing this my keeper gets injured and ies on the floor, only for gerrard to nick it off one of my midfielders and smash it in the back of the net from 30 yards

this has to be a bit of bug surely

Most likely a bug i would guess? But i don't know the official rules... If a goalie goes down does play have to be stopped? OR is it the same as when an outfield player is down... sometimes they play on sometimes they don't depending on how sporting they are lol... But in game i've definately seen my players put the ball out when theres been an injury(but not to a keeper)

Funnily enough this could have happened in the Spurs vs Sunderland match where Craig Gordon was on the floor with a fractured arm/shoulder and Spurs would have scored if Bardsley hadn't blocked the shot lol

this happened a couple of months ago in a Belgium 7th tier playoff game:

The keeper from "Eendracht Zoersel" threw the ball out of play after one off his teammates got injured.

A player from the other team ,"Groen-Rood Katelijne" , threw the ball in to a teammate. This guy moved upfield acting as he was giving the ball back to the keeper....but then puts the ball in to the net...

0-1 and the "unsportsmanlike team" into the finals of the playoffs.

The guy had to be escorted of the field by Police...

report in dutch but with pictures:

"Zeven politiecombi's" translates as "Seven police cars" :D

I seem to remember Robert Green going down injured in a friendly for England against someone like Belarus before the last world cup, and their player knocking the ball in, and that counted.

Play must stop when a goalkeeper is injured, so this ought not happen.

I believe this is incorrect: referee only has to stop play for a serious injury.

If the ref believes the injury is not serious (even for an injured keeper) play can go on.

(there was such a instance in 2004 in a match between Man City and Bolton; keeper injured on ground, play continued).

from the fifa rulebook:

the referee stops the match if, in his opinion, a player is seriously injured and

ensures that he is removed from the fi eld of play. An injured player

may only return to the fi eld of play after the match has restarted

Gordon got kicked in the face against Tottenham like 2(or 3?) days ago, the game went on and a defender saved a shot that would have been a goal while Gordon was lying down covering his face. He had to go off and got replaced.

So yeah, not a bug.

Fifa Laws of the Game, page 67, says nothing specific about injuries to goalies - as long as the ref is of the opinion that the player is slightly injured(no danger to health, etc) the game continues.

So I would not say it is a bug - you could argue that it is bad judgement of the ref though... When he saw Gerrard going for that goal, he could have changed his mind and stopped the play for what he "thought was a serious injury" ;)

(Have I done that as a ref?? nahh, never :p )

its down to the ref if play is stopped or not. im sure a lot of ppl on here will remember paul gerrard getting injured in goal years ago playing for everton. play carried on and paolo di canio caught the ball in the box instead of going for a certain goal. he won the fifa fair play award because of it
