crouchaldinho
I have just been doing something incredibly nerdy, which I am almost ashamed to admit. :o However, I know that I am amongst like-minded souls here on the SI forums, so I will share. I have just been tallying up my Football Manager honours since FM07. I couldn't go back any further than that because I can barely remember details of my saves from previous CMs and FMs, despite playing the series since CM2. Thus, FM07 has been my cut-off point. Also, I have only been tallying from my favourite major long-term saves from each series. This is because I really can't remember all of the short-term casual games I've played over the years, or the saves I simply ended up abandoning due to boredom or due to not being motivated to play them after reaching a certain point. What I would like everyone to do, is to list their FM honours as far back as they can remember and then to analyse their FM managerial careers so far! Where has it all gone right? Where did it all go wrong? Etc. This should not be a thread for boasting and any hapless and, shall we say, less successful managers will actually be much more welcome than any braggarts who want to talk about how they won everything ever with Manchester United for 100 seasons. Anyway, I'm going to go first. My trophy haul is relatively modest, mostly likely due to the fact that I play with quite strict rules in mind and that I am happier in the lower leagues rather than on the world stage. I should also point out that I am only including saves which I have played long-term and seriously. I'm not including any short-term saves at all. The totals are just from my favourite long-term career games. Crouchaldinho's FM Honours List FM07 - total trophies: 3 St. Albans City - Conference National Champions Football League Two Champions Football League One Runners-up Football League Championship 3rd Placed x2 Football League Championship Play-off Finalists x2 Football League Championship Winners England - World Cup Semi-final Turkey - World Cup Quarter-final FM08 - total trophies: 7 JOURNEYMAN CAREER SAVE: St. Albans City - Conference South winners Conference National winners Derry City - Irish First Division Winners Irish League Cup Winners Kaiserslauten - German Second Division Runners-up Ghana - African Nations Winners SAINTS ONLY SAVE: St. Albans City - Conference South Winners Conference League Cup Runners-up Conference National Winners Conference League Cup Winners Football League Two 3rd Placed FM09 - total trophies: 0 St. Albans City - Conference South Play-off Finalists FA Cup 3rd Round (reached while in the Conf South) Conference South runners-up Conference South Play-off Winners Well, the one thing that immediately stands out is that I didn't win a trophy on FM09. This is mainly due to a lack of interest in that incarnation of the game really, although I did have a good run with the Saints taking them to the Conference National. On the other hand, my most successful FM was FM08, and mostly because I played it a great deal and really enjoyed it. So what do my FM honours tell me? Well, I'm clearly a non-League specialist, with no less than six non-League titles under my belt and an FA Cup 3rd round tie achieved whilst in the Conference South (where I met Everton at Goodison Park). If you're a non-League side wanting to get into the Football League, then clearly I am your man. However, it would seem that I have very little cup pedigree. I've only ever won two knock-out competitions and I have lost in numerous finals. Clearly the big occasions get to me. The other slightly depressing thing is that I am lacking trophies at the highest level, despite having managed in the top flights of England and Germany during my various FM careers. I think this is because I tend to get bored once I get towards the top. Strange as it may sound for some of you, my favourite part of the game is usually managing in the Conference South and Conference National. My desire to play can often run dry once I reach the promised land of the top flight! My international management looks to have been reasonably successful on the surface. However, in reality, after each relatively successful period (England World Cup semis, Turkish World Cup quarters, Ghana African Nations winners) I have ended up falling at the next hurdle. For England, I went to the following European Championships and failed to get out of my group! For Turkey, I didn't even manage to qualify for the next European Championships! Finally, for Ghana, I resigned in embarrassment after an awful start to the following World Cup campaign. So my targets for FM10 must be to win a trophy at the highest level and to be successful internationally. In reality though, it'll probably be more non-League exploits for me! So tell us about your FM honours. Regards, C.

To be honest, whilst I've loved it, taking my beloved Spurs to glory hasn't been taxing. I'm planning to start with a really low team on FM10 and build them up to glory. Lewes, Burgess Hill, Worthing are all local to me and likely candidates. Should be more of a challenge!

slipknot67
Champions league finalists on FM08 with Celtic is just about the only honour in my FM cereer that's particularly noteworthy, although I did achieve 9 domestic titles in a row and had a statue built in my honour also on FM08 but that was with Bayern and probably not really worthy of sharing a thread with the achievements of other posters in here.
