Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is in correct place so sorry in advance if it is..

on the crossball setting which is mixed/deep or byline. there is also cross near-post/far-post or centre. what my question is what areas benifit what players and tactics, what kind of sytem would yo ubest need to carry out the desired cross?

is it mearly i have a tall striker playing down left centre so cross far post or is there other reason's needed to consider?

"Byline" means your player goes forward almost to the end of the pitch before trying to cross. This way you'll get crosses in more dangerous areas but more of the opposing defence will have came back to the box. "Deep" means the crosses will come from deeper down the pitch (closer to the center line). This way less of his defence will have came back to his box but the receiving attacker will be further away from the goal so less dangerous. "Mixed" means you'll leave it up to the crosser to decide what's the best option and he'll choose between them.

"near-post/far-post or centre" is in regard to where the cross will be aimed. If you play 4-5-1 (for example) your forward will tend to be in the middle of the box so you should choose "center". If you play 4-4-2 and your best scorer from headers is the forward on the left (for example) it would be reasonable to put your MR on "far post" and your ML on "near post".

Height doesn't have much to do with the efficiency of a striker (iirc). Look for heading and jumping!
