Long-term "knocks"

Recommended Posts

Just a suggestion: With Torres nursing an injury but gritting his teeth and getting through games, we should have long-term "knocks", where you are free to play the player but he'll have an accelerated rate of condition decrease; or has a smaller capped maximum condition (i.e. Torres would never reach 100% without surgery - his maximum condition with his knock would be, say, 90%). He may also have an increased risk of (a more serious) injury.

Of course, you would also have multiple options:

- Tell him to take injections before matches

- Put him on a reduced training schedule/set periodic but automatic rest periods

- Eventually tell him to go and have surgery whenever you want (unless he gets seriously injured before you decide)

Of course, the player may begin to dislike you as you may be unconcerned with his welfare. So we could have player interactions like "Just get us through the Chelsea and Arsenal games, then you can have surgery" or "we're in a relegation scrap - please wait until the season ends". And of course the player may disagree.

Torres isn't alone - Carrick delayed an operation for us; Evans has played several games through injections; Ferdinand has played through back problems and I'm sure there are plenty more cases.
