Not really sure about direct x stuff

What is the latest version to download so i can my 3D can run more smoothly. Also will this overwrite previous versions of direct x. I am not great with computers so can someone tell me if i am up to date or tell me what i need to do to upgrade.

You might also try upgrading your graphics card drivers which you can get from the manufacturer of your card.
