Using a target man in lower divisions

I am trying to use a target man with supply to head in the conference south. For some reason even tho I am setting distribution to head to my target man, quite often a lot of passes appear to be directed to his strike partner.

I am wondering if this is perhaps a known issue or just a case of the level I am playing at?

Have you set him as your primary target man? If you haven't, you can do this by clicking on the pitch on the tactics screen. The name select is in the bottom left.

What are the influence attributes of the two strikers because they often play to the player with higher influence if the gap is large.

Yes he is set as my primary target man thx for the suggestion tho.

Also my Target Man has influence of 4, whilst his partner has 8

Perhaps it might be that I played the Target Man in a support role, whilst his strike partner was in a attack role???

It also appears from looking at previous matches, that he dominates in the air playing at my home ground on a very short pitch, but hit and miss away on longer pitches.

Which does make sense, i think?

Try putting your wingers/wing backs to aim there crosses at target man by going into, tactics/player instructions/advanced/cross aim.

It's probably due to rubbish players. If his off-the-ball is poor they can't get passes to him, which is less of an issue on a small pitch.
