Problem with patch download

I've just downloaded the patch, but when I double click on it, it comes up with a message saying "file type unknown, windows does not recognise the type of file".

Any help would be most appreciated.

Does it have a file extension? If not, add .exe to the end of the file and give that a try.

how? tried going into properties but it won't allow me to change the file name.

Right-click on the file and select rename.
