boxed steam install

trying to install through steam but it keeps trying to download the files from the steam server instead of the boxed version disc that is in the drive.

1) do i just normal install and then activate through steam for the achievements

2) will i be able to play without the disc in the drive this way

3) are the achievements avalaible in offline play

its normal that its downloading , digital version is different

No, the game should install from the disc once activated through Steam, it should only be downloading if purchased through Steam.

Not sure why it's trying to download, I didn;t have thi problem with FM09.

That said, I went with Steam this year as was an easier option.

thanks for the replies. if i use steam in offline mode do the achievements auto update after i sign into online mode or do they HAVE to be activated while your are online to count?

I'm not sure, Steam in Offline mode is still running, just not connected, I would hope it updates later once connected, tho you do lose the, lets call it excitement, of seeing an achievement pop up real time in the GUI overlay.

ok thanks for help. any confirmation from anybody else regarding the updating of achievements that are completed in offline mode will be appreciated.

To activate the boxed version via Steam first go to your CD drive and run the FM2010 disc, choose to activtae via Steam, now enter your serial key on Steam once logged into Steam, then exit Steam.

Now goto your CD drive again and try to intall FM2010 again and select that you want to register via Steam, now you have to log in again and this time it will install from the disc.
