Installed FM2010 but nothing??

Ive installed fm2010 about 3 times on my pv and nothing. i try to search for the program and nothing. when i go into control panel i can see the fm program ready to remove. ive been trying this for an hour, any ideas?????

ive got no sports interactive folder there, this is killing me. its like have a big mac and being told not to eat it.

when you're installing it doesnt it ask where on your pc you wish to install to?

There will be a shortcut in the games folder on the start menu.

Pretty poor that SI haven't fixed this issue yet, it's happened since 08 now - the stupid thing is, if you install FM07 on vista/Win 7 the start menu AND desktop shortcuts are both installed correctly.

It's not pretty poor, it's standard for games now to only place shortcuts into the Games folder.

when you're installing it doesnt it ask where on your pc you wish to install to?

i know its a joke, i dont see why they didnt stick with what they had. last two years have been a nightmare seriously feel to just buy championship manager.

This is where it went on mine on default settings (Windows 7 - 64 Bit)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2010\fm.exe

Actually it's a Microsoft problem - games using the Games for Windows logo don't put shortcuts on the desktop as Microsoft don't want them to, shortcuts go into the Games Explorer and start menu on Vista and Windows 7.

Yea, but the start menu shortcut is very rarely actually placed in the start menu, which is the biggest head scratcher.

I must've installed FM07/8/9 about 20 times between the three, and neither 08 or 09 put the shortcut in the start menu more than once. This was after formats and new computers and so forth - with and without admin rights.

Did you have a previous version of the game? If so did you fully uninstall it? I had simillar problems to you and after I deleted everything to do with fm2009 including the registry entries I then rebooted and tried to install again and it worked a second time. Also make sure that all your drivers are up to date and especially make sure you have the latest versions of both Directx and java.

If anyone does need to uninstall their game, google a program called revo uninstaller. It's freeware and it does a much better job of properly uninstalling a program.

As I said before, the installer that SI choose to use is utter garbage.

Michael is correct - it's a windows standards thingymajig, and nowt to do with us. We follow their rules.

It isn't supposed to.

meh I hate that. Why do they want to add extra clicks to get to programs?

Go to the "Games" folder, right click, "copy", go to desktop "paste shortcut" and tadaaaa you got urself a nice desktop shortcut

It kind of makes sense in that every game goes in the same place and doesn't fill your desktop with icons you may not want there. Personally I'd prefer an option in the installer too, but it's so easy to create shortcut if you want one, it's hardly the end of the world. (Personally I find it easier to just right click and drag from the games explorer and click Create Shortcut Here.)

That doesn't work. Right clicking on an icon gives you a specialised menu - "update, website" etc.

You have to go into the program folder and make one from there.
