problem with steam

this been happening now for a few days.

everytime i turn my PC on and go to play via steam its says its updating and seems to stick at certain points in the updating process.

i have turned computer on a nd off several times but still same.

is something blocking the steam application on my pc from processing?

this is really annoying.

never had no problems with steam up until now.

Turn off your firewall and anti virus it's probably them whats giving you the problems with the steam updating.

Just plug your computer out at the mains. Take the modem firmly in both hands and shake vigorously for around 30 seconds maybe even hit it a couple of slaps. Then plug it back in and voilà Steam should now work.

If your on xp or vista goto your start bar, goto control panel and then goto windows firewall icon, click on it and turn it off there and for your anti virus look at the bottom right side of your computer screen, where the clock time is and see if the icon is there for your anti virus and just click on that and shut it down.
