They are in the demo.

If you are basing it on the intra squad friendly then you won't see any crowds as it is a closed doors training match. Play some more games and you should see crowds. :)

I'm going out on a limb here, but did you just finish your internal (against reserve team) match?
If so, this is a closed match with no audience.
Another possibility is that you have the vanilla demo, wich does not include any extra graphics, sounds, logos etc.

I noticed there is a tick box " Show Crowds " in Prefances/Display&Sound.
Maybe that's not ticked in your game?
