Who else has changed the demo skin to the darker version?

I was playing the FM10 Demo yesterday, and after 30 mins I found that the default skin is very very light and strains my eyes a little bit. Who else has changed the skin to the dark version?

Yep same here. I knew from the screen shots of FM10 that I would change to the darker skin!!!!!

Darker is much nicer. Light makes my eyes bleed

The white version does look nice, but yes the dark version is a lot easier on the eyes. Especially when playing for a good few hours at a time

White looks like facebook its horrible, black one is nice but a bit too simplistic, could do with some shadings or somethin

yeah, changed to dark after half hour, the eyes were burning!!!!!!!!

Its not good is it really.. lol.

Hopefully they can darken it just a little bit. There are masses of white space on some screens which just light up my room.

I didn't even realise there was a dark version, which is good news as I came to work this morning with a headache from all the white so I will be changing it when i get home. Don't want to end up with snow blindness!!!!

I do not like BRIGHT white on a gaming skin!

It was a BRIGHT move by SI because i do not recall any game company that has released a game in PURE white. Darker or coloured skins are always better. To me the BLACK skin does FM10 justice.

Now i just need to get used to this layout and new options.

Will i have to download the black version and extract in the skins folder? as im using the vanilla version of the demo

agreed plus the fact it looks a hell of a lot nicer too, as someone else said once i saw the screenshots i know id switch to the darker skin

I changed it too, darker is better.

White backgrounds are useless in this game as the text itself is usually of no importance - just the storyline and background information. A word processor involves typing words which are important; a spreadsheet involves values in cells which are important; a search engine uses a white background as people need to study the text in their search results. We do not pay that much attention to text in a game and therefore it is stupid to use a white background as a large amount of a bright colour hurts the eyes.

I argued that bright colours were not necessarily bad as long as there was a significant amount of dark to help the eyes - but a dark or medium-toned skin will always triumph, as we play these games for several hours.

The white background on a 24inch IMac is hard work on the eyes!!!

maybe they should change the ultimate white to a more beige/white to ease it on the eyes. I dont like the dark and i love the white, but after an hour or so i need to stop looking at the screen cause my eyes will hurt XD

I usually like lighter skins better, but imo the dark skin is much 'easier'.

Yes I've changed to the darker skin. I felt like putting my sunglasses on when I first saw the default skin.

I know people can get used to white skins by using them for one week. But I guess black would be better.

How many of those who changed to dark, used the blackin skin or other dark skins last year?

I didn't know there was a second skin, but thanks to this thread i found out and changed to the darker skin , the white one was to bright even though it looked alright, easier to read the text with the darker skin.

I immediately changed to the dark skin. And then changed it back pretty quickly. I just find that everything seems to blend in together on the dark one. It looks better but I went back to the light one because I find it easier to use. Changing that pure white is still on the agenda though...

Only if you download the dark skin (you can find it in the Skinning Forum).

i changed just a few minutes ago, though both look good i'm more comfortable with dark skins.

Thank you. Could have ticked both 2 and 3 options: didn't realize there was a second skin until I saw this thread. So much easier to read, better contrast helps to clearly see so much better of the stats and feedback.

How do you change to the dark skin? Tried going to Display and Sound in Preferences but can't seem to change it. Is this only in the strawberry version (I'm using the vanilla)?

The darker skin is much better. Should be the default skin IMHO.

Is it just me or is it easier to pick out all the stats with the dark skin?

Cheers, having read this i've just changed to the Dark Skin and I think its much nicer,

I changed it to the darker, other one was pretty ugly imo.

I changed to darker but I'm still struggling to pick out the white text on top of the green buttons. Eg - transfer budget on the home page, I'm struggling to read it without squinting or tilting the screen for a minute.

Anyone else found this? I'm hoping someone will change it when the new skins come out.

I would like to use the light skin, but it pure white is just too bright, would have to find a mod with a kind of pale blue, like is used on these forums!

I always prefer black backgrounds for everything, even my windows desktop is just plan black, even when sometimes i would like to use a nice picture, but i always return to a plan black one.

Me too, it's not killing my eyes (already need glasses because years of gaming) and usually it's easier to spot stats darker skins.
