This is a completely free for all career thread, designed for discussing your careers.

It is suggested that you load leagues from more than one country, to add variety, and make your game as more of a "career".

The Aim/Rules

Simple really, just play the game as if it was your real life career. It is completely up to you how you play, just start the game as a real life manager would.

How to Post a Screenshot

While in FM, press the 'Prt Sc' button (usually next to F12 on your keyboard).
Open an image editing program such as Paint and paste the image.
Save the file as a JPEG.
Upload the image to an image hosting website such as Photobucket or Imageshack.
Post the direct Url to the image here.

Feel free to update as frequently as you feel like. Posting your end of season table is suggested to let people know how you are getting on.

On the game I started I edited the Defoe problem, and used Sunday league rather than automatic as my reputation. Are either of those a problem?

That's fine, Sunday League reputation should give the same as automatic in the lower leagues and the Defoe fix was suggested by SI, so we can't really ban that.

Great idea http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Are we allowed to discuss games we are currently playing that were started using the rules, or do we have to start a new game to participate?

I don't see why current games shouldn't be discussed, as long as they are a career type game.

what is the "defoe fix"?

There is a sticky at the top of GQ that explains it in full, but it is basically changing Defoe's clauses so that Spurs recieve a one off payment, rather than many.

I've decided to run all leagues. all divisions, and large database.

I will not be fixing the Defoe bug, nor any of the other workarounds.

- My Reputation wont be auto either. Due to this bug, I'll never ever get a job, so my rep will be International Footballer.

I'll upload screenies as and when i can.!

To Begin....

Just days after Craig Douglas completes his A Coach Badge, he gets offered a managers role..!!

FC Moscow (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/TFM/Club%201%20FC%20Moscow/MoscowApproach.jpg) of Russia offer Mr. Douglas a job on an 18 month contract. Moscow are of the Russian Premier Division.

Craig Douglas - Managers Profile (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/TFM/Club%201%20FC%20Moscow/Profile.jpg)

(I'm starting to think I should have just had "professional footballer" as my manager rep, because I didn't expect to get a club of this calibre so quickly. I expected to slum it in lower leagues for years.! - Any advice??)

birdy123

It seems a bit much... I would knock it down to at least professional tbh.

What bug? I've got jobs without any problems?

International footballer sets your reputation to continental, professional to national, semi-pro to regional and Sunday league to either local/obscure/unknown (not sure which).

Must be really slow with every league?

Ok. I started again, and gave myself the one above "Automatic"

I was promptly offered the job of the Sengkang Punggol FC, which I hastily took. 2 days later I stepped down as manager, after realizing the team wasn't for me.

I only took it to "get in" the game straight away, but I really should be more shrewd with my choices.

Great thread. I've started a career not too long ago with 'Professional' as my starting reputation. Within a couple of months I'd been offered the Vasco de Gama job in Brazil \o/

They were languishing in 18th after 18 games and severely struggling. They have mounting debt, a pretty crap squad and that lunatic Edmundo is the club captain!

What have I let myself in for?

2.2 GHz Dual Core Intel Processor, with 4GB Memory. It's a Mac Book Pro, 120 GB Hard Drive. I keep all my files on an external HD too, so the computer only has minimal files on it, allowing the game to run smooth.

In general, It doesn't effect the computer, nor the game, but the processing of the game naturally takes a little longer.

Started my game a few days ago, loaded the following leagues with large db

Australia
Brazil
China (used start date so game begins in January 2008)
Denmark
England (down to League One)
Germany
Israel
Romania
South Africa
USA

Bit of a random selection, but it was too slow with every major country, and I wanted some completely different nations to play in.

First job was at African Warriors in the South African First Division, had no chance of staying up, so resigned after 26 (out of 30) matches.

In the summer after the first season the German league is restructured, so this created a lot of new jobs. Eventually got the job at FC Ismaning in the German Regional Divsion South.

Not sure how long I'll stay, might try and get some success, but could look for a better job.

What nationalities are you both using?

As I started in South Africa I'm guessing that made getting a job easier, clubs probably have lower reps than the ones in the leagues you loaded iacovone.

Just noticed iacovone you didn't load the bottom levels in your game, that probably explains it. Sunday league will probably get you a job in the BS N/S, maybe BS National, but not League Two. Same with Brazil, Germany and Spain.

Home to a massive squad of 12 players, Douglas will have himself a tough time achieving anything set by the board.

Jonzii - Season 07/08 Burghausen

My Profile (http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/8471/profilezc0.png)

Got pretty much straight into a job with Burghausen in the German lower leagues.

Looked a decent team on paper and predicted to finish 4th, but could never string any sort of run together.
Didn't see the season out, sitting around mid table most of the season and my finances were shocking so by March '08 I was shown the door.

March '08 - Burgos C.F.

Straight back into management with Spanish Segunda B2 team Burgos C.F. (http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/2365/burgoscfsadinformationnp4.png).
Sitting 7th in the League (http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/997/segundadivisinb2leaguettj7.png) when I took over. They were predicted to finish 1st this season so could be on to a winner here.

Jonzii - Season 07/08 End Of Season - Burgos C.F.

League Table (http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/4714/segundadivisinb2stagescn5.png)

Squad (http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/618/burgoscfsadburgosplayertv5.png)

Nearly made the playoffs, and just missed out http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif In fact it went down to the last day. Sat in 6th place 2 points behind 4th, I had to win and the two teams above me needed to lose. Well they both lost but I could only draw at home after leading twice, Gutted!
Oh well, if we can keep our form since I took over we should be up there next season, although on paper my squad seems quite weak.

belgium - top 2

gave myself semi-pro status, like Nepenthez, and not having too low down in countries (computer isn't amazing...)

2nd Season

Meppen, German Regional Division West

I took Meppen over after just 1 game, they were sitting bottom and had succumbed to a 4-0 defeat to poor opposition. Looking to strengthen the squad right across all positions, i struggled to find many players better than what i had already had. Mainly due to no transfer budget and no wage budget, all players had to be paid nothing to play, eventually after a string of results, lifting me out of the relegation zone, a few more players wanted to come,i targeted players from Uruguay, the nation i managed in last season. With no strong bound contracts my players could come and leave as they pleased, thankfully losing most of the poorer players throughout the season and myself bringing in a number of attribute specific players to help fill in the squad. I managed to pick up this player to my surprise, he was on £200 a week previously. (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/Perez.jpg)

After strengthening the squad i managed to pick up more and more results to my surprise and i climbed the table to mid table where i ended. Table (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/LeagueTable-2.jpg)

No really outstanding players, it was a team effort this season, goals coming from all over the pitch. Squad/Stats (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/Squad-Stats.jpg)

My finances improved vastly, mainly due to having to pay no wages at all and having a 16500 capacity stadium. Finances (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/Finances-1.jpg)

Depending on how i improve the squad and the money i get, will determine how long i stay with this club.

Always loved the idea of starting a "career" on FM, but it's never really happened.

Hopefully if I take some time out from my Billericay save (that I'll be updating shortly in dafuge's challenge thread), I might try it again.

Haven't had much time to play over the last couple of days, and when I have played, I've just "bombed" through.

First Games....

Paganese 2 - 3 Nocerina
Nocerina 0 - 1 Martina
Nocerina 1 - 3 Gubbio
Spal 1 - 0 Nocerina
Torres 2 - 1 Nocerina

5 Games - 1 Win, 4 Losses. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

My team is so poor. And although there are hundreds of players interested in my club, they are all just as bad. I fear the worst with this team, but I will try my hardest, no less.

I didn't want to start in the UK even though i was offered a couple in England and 1 in Scotland. Holland had far greater appeal!

Ironically my FC Eindhoven team have no parent or feeder club! I wonder whether PSV will come up as a viable option for a parent club http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yea I've still got a job. 2 months until the recruits are in. I'm not doing well in the league, with 2 Wins and 3 Draws along side my 5 losses. I sit in the relegation play-off zone by goal difference.

The thing that gets me is, I'm favorite for nearly every game, yet I'm getting battered. The oppo regularly has 60-65% possession, and the Goals to Shots seems to have gone from one extreme to the other. Usually about 8-9 shots in total by both teams, and almost every shot on target goes in.!

My Knockbreda Tactic was failing me, so I'm developing a new tactic for Nocerina, but my players are just so poor its embarrassing .

http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I've decided to start a career with the top leagues from the following countries running -

<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>England <LI>Italy <LI>Spain <LI>Australia <LI>U.S.A <LI>France
I have also loaded up leagues to the lowest possible for the following countries -

<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Brazil <LI>N.Ireland <LI>Russia <LI>South Africa <LI>Sweden
I set my reputation at automatic and am now applying for any available job....there are quite a few so I'm excited to see who wants me first! Jonzii - Season 08/09

Burgos C.F. - Segunda Division B2

League Table (http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8666/segundadivisinb2leaguetej4.png)

Was really feeling confident about this season. The performances since I took over last season suggest that we had a good chance of getting into the playoffs.
After a poor start to the season we managed to recover and spent the second half of the season drifting between 2nd and 4th place. Ended up finishing 4th in the final playoff spot, with confidence high in the squad I felt we had a real chance of promotion.

http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/3255/burgosvbadalonaoverviewfw1.png (Playoff Semi Final Leg1)

First up in the playoff was Badalona. They were the winners of Segunda B3 so i was expecting a really tough tie. Sure enough the 1st leg was a tough encounter especially seeing as I was at home, ending up in a draw which was probably a fair result.

Playoff Semi Final Leg2 (http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/859/badalonavburgosoverviewxi3.png)

Didnt really hold much hope for the 2nd leg, thought it may be a step too far. However, we suprisingly dominated the game but kept missing chances. Both teams had a man sent off just before half time and we went in at 1-1.
Start of the second half, just 1 minute in and Badalona scored to make it 2-1. We dominated the rest of the game, but were still 2-1 down moving into the 83rd minute. Somehow we manage to grab 2 goals in the last 7 mins and we are through to the final. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Playoff Final Leg1 (http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/8320/talaveravburgosoverviewpx0.png)

So on to the final where we met Tavalera, they only finished 3rd in their league and I was sure we would be too good for them. Was aiming for at least a draw on the away leg but we hammered them for the whole game running out 4-1 winners.

Playoff Final Leg 2 (http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/4958/burgosvtalaveraoverviewvi8.png)

This game was always going to be a formality after the 1st leg, and so it proved with us running out 3-0 winners.

Liga BBVA here we come!! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Jonzii - Season 09/10

Burgos C.F. - Liga BBVA

League Table (http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/8885/ligabbvaleaguetablecx3.png)
Squad (http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/2228/burgoscfsadburgosplayertv0.png)
Transfer History (http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/4619/burgoscfsadtransfershisqg0.png)

There was no way my current squad was going to be able to compete in Liga BBVA, I desperately needed to bring in some quality but with 200k to spend I was praying that there would be some decent free transfers out there.

Turns out my prayers were answered, quite a few decent players from the french league were available on frees ans most importantly they were interested in joining us. So I snapped a few of the better ones up, they were all considered to be leading starts for Liga BBVA sides.

After a couple of other signings at the back my team looked loads stronger than before, however with the wages I was paying these decent players my finances were getting pretty bad.

These are some of the new players.
Souleymane Camara (http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/3246/souleymanecamaraprofilevg3.png) Simon Feindouno (http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/5742/simonfeindounoprofilevb2.png)
Eric Marester (http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/8168/ericmaresterprofileed6.png)
Cedric Fabien (http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/9759/cdricfabienprofileaw7.png)

Now for the season. Started off poorly, losing my first game quite convincingly at home to Tenerife. But then we went on a 9 game unbeaten run, which pushed us up into the top 5.
The next 2 games both ended in defeat, but my tactics were now begining to work and make sense which then led to a 18, yes 18 match unbeaten run http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif putting us firmly in the top 3. Things seemed to be going far too well but the new players I had signed were awesome and were really doing the business for me.

Then came the new patch http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif 1st game we played, away to Cadiz who were also hovering around the top 5 saw us get a complete mauling 6-0 which led to a few more awful performances, my once bulletproof tactic was now at best average. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

For the rest of the season we struggled with consistency but still managed to stay around the top 5. With 6 games to go we were in 5th, 2 points from a promotion place, somehow we managed 3 wins and draw which took us down to the last day of the season.
Sitting in 3rd going into the last game, our fate was in our hands. All we needed was a draw at home to Sevilla Athletico who were bottom of the league, we dominated them and won 3-1.

La Liga here we come http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Unbeleivably we had achieved successive promotions, we seriously overachieved due to my tactics being sorted for 2 thirds of the season but struggled a few times after the patch. La Liga will be fun but I would be very suprised if we get anywhere near avoiding relegation.

Watch out Barca/Real!!! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Watch out Barca/Real!!! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

well done!! great achievement.. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Jonzil Congrats mate on your achievements. Your career has certainly started off with a bang, i hope i can do the same in Holland!

As for FC Eindhoven i haven't had a huge amount of time to devote to them recently (and the game takes a while to process http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif). However, i have managed a 1-1 draw with Juventus reserves in one of my friendlies and am about to embark on the League.
I've managed to get a couple of players on loan, a DC and MC on a free and sold an MC for £180K up front + clauses! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
My biggest news is my parent club. Not having one i asked the board for one and they gave me 2 options: NAC breda or ......PSV! Naturally i went for PSV (paying me £40K a year) and they have already sent me 2 quality players. I'm hoping to get a ST and an AMC before the season begins. However, my wage structure is hampering my acquisitions somewhat http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

But my career is under way and will playe dmore this evening.....

All the best of everyone http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Jonzil - great achievement so far!

As for my Stranraer side - things have started nicely. I've brought in some random Italians (seeing as my manager is Italian) who are doing a great job and we're sitting 2nd after 5 games. KUTGW everyone http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Resigned as manager of Meppen, due to the lack of funds/wages available, after a good start sitting 2nd for a around 10 games i slumped down to 10th, after 22, i can't see the team progressing with the current situation.

A few jobs available, once again in Urugua, a number in Norway, some Blue Square South teams and i fancy a pop in the Argentinian league...

6 games to go in my first season with Stranraer in the Scot 3rd Div and there are 4 teams vying for the automatic promotion top spot with just 3 points between us all! This will really go right down to the wire. This is also the kind of start I need if my managerial career is going to take off - I desparately need to win the league!!

Juve Stabia in Serie C1B just said I was favourite for the job - I've declared interest and hopefully can secure a job there for the start of next season.

Incidentally a good tip for progressing from club to club is to keep your contract length as short as possible - it means the clubs that may be interested in you have to pay a smaller compensation fee http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Ended up not going to Juve Stabia. Stayed on at Stranraer and lost the league by 3 points http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon13.gif. However, we went up through the playoffs \o/ hurrah.

Did you turn down a job offer from Juve Stabia? or did they not follow up their interest?

25-02-2008, 11:21
Nope they just appointed someone else without offering it to me. I decided to end my reign at Stranraer in the summer...1 season was enough. I've now taken the reigns at little known Italian C2C outfit Val di Sangro

Not too sure whether this is a step up or step down...At least I'm in a country with a highly reputable top league.

How you getting on Jonzii?

Just finished my first season in La Liga, will post an update shortly. My contract was running out, but ended up signing a new one. Not sure why cos I think i'm going to quit, been there 3 1/2 seasons now. My reputation is up to National now so should be able to get a half decent job somehwere.

Jonzii - Season 2010/11

Burgos C.F. - La Liga

League Table (http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/5431/primeradivisinlaligadefgd4.png)
Squad (http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/9397/burgoscfsadburgosplayerej6.png)
Transfers (http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7734/burgoscfsadtransfershisne6.png)

Pre season was a bit of a struggle. I was trying to bring in players but every time it looked like I was about to sign someone, it got hijacked by a bigger club.
In the end I only managed to bring in 4 players before the start of the season, and three of them were on loan, the best of them and probably the 2nd best player in the season was Xavier Pentecote (http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/9193/xavierpentecteprofileun3.png) from Toulouse.

Well.. the season started well, only lost one of my first 6 games and that was 1-0 away to runaway winners Valencia and I was sitting in the top 8. Scraped 2 more wins and a draw from my next ten games and we were sat just below halfway but pretty comfortable.
Then everything went wrong, only managed to pick up 2 points from my next 17 games and we were in freefall, moving us to 17th place just 1 point above Espanyol in 18th.
Luckily in our next game we managed to end our poor run with a 1-0 victory over Murcia, in a game that totally dominated. We followed that up with a draw away to Osasuna and another much needed victory at home to bottom club Almeria.

At this point with 6 games left we were well behind the rest of the league, and it was looking like the final relegation spot was between us and Espanyol. Lucky for us, the recent points had taken us 4 points above them. Manage a couple of draws over the next few games, Espanyol keep losing and we are out of sight going into the last game. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

So little Burgos have managed to survive with the big boys and will play at least another season in La Liga, however i will not be there with them as I have just resigned. Time for another challenge I think.

Jonzii
25-02-2008, 14:18
Don't know why I wrote that I had resigned. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif Should have been I will be resigning.

New job (http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1378/markjonezinboxvm9.png) wasn't long in coming. Resigned from Burgos just after taking this one. Will still probably look for a club job too, might get a bit boring just doing national job.

A small update of my career so far (not had much game time recently!)........

FC Eindhoven are currently sitting 6th out of 20 teams in the Dutch first division. It is something of a strange league structure http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
The winners are promoted http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif
The teams placed 2-9 qualify for the play-offs, depending if any other teams win the sections. What sections? I'm not sure either http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
Anyway, we've got about 12 games remaining and are pretty well placed.
Leo Borges my Brazilian ST is having a good season, but i'm sniffing around the job market!
I'm tempted to see out the season, then retire come what may http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I'd be chuffed if we got promotion, we're expected to finish 16th. The board just want us to enjoy the experience http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I was approached to take over Sheffield Wednesday, but declined. I want to manage abroad elsewhere before returning to my homeland.

Jonzil Enjoy your International experience http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Well given my penchant for Italian football I'm loving it so far - and the season hasn't even begun. Seeing as Val di Sangro are the first Italian side I've managed on FM08 I intend to do a good job here and at least get them to Serie C1. Parent and Feeder clubs seem to be all the rage in Italy. I have 5 parent clubs (Siena being the best) and 2 feeder clubs http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif.

Brought in some very good players on loan, and I'm feeling quietly confident about the season ahead despite being predicted to come 14th

Hey guys.

Just thought I would join in this thread, I love threads like this.

Anyway, I'm managing in Argentina, with all the South American and North American leagues loaded. However, only Argentina is playable.

I waited a season till the newly promoted sides appeared, and took over at All Boys.

They have a very averagly average squad. The board want me to avoid relegation and I'm predicted to finish 17th. I think I can finish lower-midtable personally.

As the transfer window is closed, I can't improve the squad. But the board have given me £300k to spend in the next window, a pretty good amount for a club of my stature. I have a Brazilian side (Vitoria) as my Parent club, but they haven't loaned me any players.

I currently don't have any staff, but am in the process of hiring about 5 coaches, a Physio and an Ass Man. I think I may have exceeded the wage budget though after these signings.

The squad are also pretty old, most of the starting 11 are over 30, but hopefully they can all be replaced by the end of this season.

Good luck to the rest of you and I will be updating soon.

See you! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

What reputation did you set, and did you load the leagues down to the lowest divisions?

I've started again with different leagues, as it was too hard to get a job.

This time I have loaded the following leagues-

Australia
Belgium
Brazil
China (Used China January 2008 as start date)
England (to League Two)
Germany
Portugal
South Africa
Sweden
USA

I chose Israel, Romania and Denmark last time, but they didn't have many, if any, local/obscure rep clubs, meaning I could only really get jobs in Germany and South Africa at the start.

Sweden has 4 levels with a lot of divisions, Belgium has 3 as does Portugal. Should mean there are a lot more possibilities for finding new jobs.

Anyway I got a job at Skene in the end, and the chairman wants to be in the First Division Elite in 4 years, which means he wants 2 promotions in that time. An ambitious chairman should hopefully make it interesting.

Not had much time to play much recently. Played 3 games so far in charge of Bosnia, lost two of them against Spain and Norway, drew away to Austria. They were the last 3 games for WC qualifying but we were already well out of it when I took over.
To be honest the quality of players to pick from isn't that great, we would need to overachieve or get a really easy group to qualify for the euros. Not sure if its worth sticking around, we will see. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Jonzii - Season 2011/12

Bosnia and Herzegovina

After playing only 3 games I quickly came to the decision that taking this job probably wasn't the best idea, so after just 4 months in charge I decided to resign.

This led to 4 months out of the games for me, brought to an end in the middle of February by My new job. (http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/8585/markjonezinbox2bf5.png)
Wasn't to sure about going back into International management again but Cameroon are a far better team than Bosnia. They are currently ranked 15th in the world and qualifying for WC 2014 should be straight forward, probably the most difficult team in my group will be Tunisia, the others being Kenya, Lesotho, Namibia and Zambia.

Less than a month later and I was back into club management too. Darren ferguson left 10th place Championship club Peterborough to take over at Cardiff who were bottom of the league at the time http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif which opened the door for me to take over at peterborough.

Took over with 9 games left, 6 points off the playoffs. We lost our first game 2-0 at home to Birmingham, who were chasing a playoff place too, so I didn't hold up much hope of getting close to them. However, we went on to win 6 and draw one of our next 7 games leaving us sitting in 5th place going into the last game of the season, which was away to top of the table Wolves.
If any of the two teams behind me, Birmingham or Southampton were to win then I would also have to win at Wolves which I couldn't really see happening.

We were never in the game at Wolves and ended up losing 3-0, so it would all go down to what Birmingham and Southampton we doing. Unfortunately Southampton ran out comfortable 3-1 winners against 18th place Millwall leaving us bck in 7th, just one point off the playoff places. Oh well maybe next year.

Excellent thread guys. For me career games is the best way to play and most challenging.

Up until the patch I had a career game with all North & South American leagues running and spend a good few years in the Uruguayan leagues but was unable to get one of the big clubs.

Now I'm really going to go into the unknown. I'm going to try and run a game with all the Asian leagues going with an amateur reputation. I'll post who/where I am once I'm sorted!

I am really sad about my first season at Eindhoven, I feel I owe it to myself and the club to stay for the second season and leave them in a better state.

Anyone else had problems with thier old formations with 8.02.

Even though I think not making my defence stronger was my main problem.

Just don't understand how the board can be happy with me.

i never downloaded the new update, couldnt be bothered but there seems to be a few people disliking the update. i just cant be bothered to donwload it until iv finished my on going career.

Well, i literally just finished the season. And whats really wierd is, i only just noticed is that when i got promoted from the German Regional Division South, I went up to the German Second Division. This means that i missed out the German Third Division. Now what is wierd is, the fact that i never remember there being this extra league, and acording to the game there were not past winners in the third division in the 07/08 year, yet every other league there is. aw well, either way i missed out a league and jumped up to the second league after being promoted in the 07/08 year.

Now where was I, o yea, 2nd season in and I came third, which is a promotion place. only 5 points from first, but 1 point from 4th! it went all the way down to the last game in which i won, 2v1, scoring in the 87th minute!

Here i come german first division. Only problem is, im scared that im going to fail. and if i get through about 10 games and im bottem, il leave and find another club.
hope that all made sence.

Having not had much time on FM recently, my update has been long awaited!

I am currently managing the mighty Pars (Dunfermline) in sunny Scotland. This followed a pretty successful start to management in Eindhoven.
There were only 7 games remaining of the season when i took charge and i managed to get them to respectable 5th position in the First Division.
This season things have gone much better and at the midpoint of the season we are first by one point!
I've bought in a few new players and a couple on loan. I've managed to attract Celtic as a parent club to boot http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I will post screenies over the weekend, certainly when my new recruits appear on Jan 1st. This should strengthen my defence still further!

Val di Sangro Update

3rd season completed. This was my 2nd with Val di Sangro and our first ever season in C1. We started well but then soon found inconsistency and slipped right down the table. A run of 14 games without a win confirmed we'd be battling to stay up. After the winter break we picked up our form and climbed out of the relegation playoff positions before heading on another poor run. With 3 games to go we needed to win them all to have a hope of avoiding the playoffs to go down...which we did! Amazingly our form came together and we stayed out of the relegation playoff positions by 1 point http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So not a bad first season, survival is the aim again next year and I'm also open to pastures new http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

This is a really good thread and a great concept.

I like Dafuge and Gondo ones, but I don't think I could stay at one club for that long.

I am thinking due to a lack of regular players in this thread, starting a new one similar to this. But with some goals. So we can work out who is having the best career etc. They don't have to be winning things all the time.

What do you guys think about a new thread?

If so what ideas would you like to see?

My first update is a bad update, lol.

After taking over at TIbro with only 9 games left, I tried to bring in some new players and the four I did were of no help as we promptly lost our first two games by a total of 11-1, so I was very disappointed and after the two losses, were helplessly stuck in dead last and was awaiting the axe.

The season was going to be a wash, I decided to get out while I could and while there were still some outstanding apps in. I have waited almost 3 weeks and have a few offers but all of them are from teams in the same position as Tibro, dead last with no hope of getting out of relegation.

I did get an offer from African Warriors and I did get them to agree to a week delay but most likely, I am going to take that post as their season has not started yet.

A few other very interesting offers have been made but with seasons underway, not sure I could take them and do anything with them to keep them up or improve the positions with only partial seasons left.

Will post screenies of my new post when it finally is accepted.

Peace

Not a bad idea, I thought about doing it myself not too long ago. As for ideas:

1) I would create maybe 3/4 sets of guidline set-ups if you were to start a new thread. By this I mean what leagues to run and detail levels etc. Maybe cater for the FMers that have optimum pc's down to those with fairly basic so at least on some level anyone that likes the idea of a career game can take part and join in with the thread.

2)Possibly keep this like Dafuge and Gundo with regard to End of Season updates. They don't necessarily have to be in depth because obviously we'll be moving clubs a lot, but at least something on an annual basis to keep the other FMers interested in your career.

Thats my 2 cents anyway. I'll be in the new thread if you start it http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

oo, i wondered why. thanks.

As for me quiting, i quit because yes, the board were not very happy, kind of demanding better performances or else id get hung, so i quit... i wanted a new challenge too. Iv not played FM since i quit, been slightly busy with work so when i get back on it, il inform you lot with who im with. probably be another low league club. i wont go to another german club, i want to go somewhere else like... erm... Russia or Israel. Just not germany again, or England yet.

The plan i came up with when i started this was to make a good career, becoming a world class manager, winning the champions league, winning as many cups as possible with many clubs across the world (i loaded nearly every country and league, but not all of them) and then when i got bored of club management, take England to the world cup finals, and obviously winning it.

Il play it on sunday and tell who im with

ooo, russia it is. Avangard Kursk, in the first division. given me a two year contract and hope to finish in a respectable position in the first division at the end of it.

I took over in September, and they are lying 17th after 34 games/42 games. 8 games left, and im very close to being in the relegation zone (1 point). better get winning.

Quick Update

Well season 3 has ended for Val di Sangro and we really pressed on. A poor start was countered by a change in tactics and we went on a great run that culminated in a 7th placed finish. We just fell away towards the end of the season and lost the race for a playoff position.

I've stuck at Val di Sangro as I really believe we can get promotion this year - the season's started well and we're undefeated in 5 games http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif. Come on...!

Leagues loaded in full - Belgium, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Scotland. England Loaded to League 2, Sweden to First Div. and Brazil to Second Div.

Started as Falkirk.

Falkirk 07/08

Knowing Falkirk had established themselves as an SPL team, this season was about rooting themselves as a mid-to-upper tabled side. With limited funds both for wages and transfer, i was looking to make the most of what i already had and possibly strengthening in one or two key areas. Looking to take advantage of the reserve players available for transfer, i signed 4 back up players for around 50k, all capable of playing a number of positions. With Falkirk's somewhat low reputation in the SPL attracting many high profile players would be tough, all though signing Seyfo Soley and Vagner Leonardelli for free's would be good coup's. With the sale of Scott Arfield to Watford for 1.4m, i thought i could create a whole new team with that kind of money, until i noticed only 40% of the fee would be made available. With this money i made my most valuable signing; Daryl Murphy for 250k, around 1.75mil below his value. Final Transfers (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/07-08Transfers.jpg)

Looking to play attacking football i adopted my 4-2-3-1 formation from other saves, but soon changed to the familiar 4-4-2 formation. This proved a good move, making 6th spot our own, after a mid season rise to 3rd and fall to 8th. Final Table (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/07-08Table.jpg)

So a good start to the season, 2 places above the media prediction.

2nd Season update to follow within the next day or so.

Going to try this with 28 leagues to see just how hot my new computer is. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The 28 Leagues:
Argentina (PRM)
Australia (A-League)
Brazil (3rd & up)
England (League 2 & up)
France (CFA & up)
Germany (Bundesliga)
Holland (Eredivisie)
Italy (Serie C2 & up)
Mexico (PRM)
Russia (PRM)
Scotland (PRM)
South Africa (PRM)
South Korea (K-league)
Spain (Liga BBVA & up)
Turkey (PRM)
USA (MLS)

I'm going to start unemployed as a Semi-Pro Footballer and see what happens. I'm giving myself the liberty of German second nationality, as its one of the nations of my ancestry so I have another language. I'm also setting a goal of no more than 3 years with any squad.

I'm starting in June 2007

Having never managed in Italy before it is an interesting experience. The co-ownership of players is a key aspect. I've managed to get a few players into Chievo and arranged a link with Roma, but not much to report.
I'm intending posting a screenie of my new squad just before the season starts and also a manager profile highlighting achievements etc http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hi all,

I think I may start one of these tonight. Now I know I am being lazy (and I should know the answer anyway!) but as I do not have the FM2008 game or manual in front of me at the moment can anyone tell me what options need to be selected in the game set up to be able to manage national sides at some point in my career?

Cheers http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

first off, nice work guys on everything so fat, KUTGW

does running 28 leagues run ok? I thought my pc would be fine with running all the leagues b'cos i bought a new pc 3 or 4 weeks ago, for gaming purposes. i never tested until now whether it would. my pc runs just as smooth with every single league in the game running, but its still slower because of all the processing of all the matches etc... with large DB. feel that i should have put all the leagues on my career game, aw well.

Quick update on my new season with. end of season, 2010/11.

When i joined Avangard Kursk, they lied 17th after 35 games (7 games left) and only 1 point from being in the relegation zone. possible finishing places were 8th-22nd. They were predicted 7th.

I finished in 15th, equal points to 14th and 13th, just my goal difference was slightly less that theirs. lets see who i can get in the transfer window...

Little Update

Gutted to say we missed out on the playoffs this year. Came 6th so a slight improvement on 7th last year. There was perhaps not enough depth to our squad which I'm going to address this year. 5th season in charge coming up. It's been a long and reasonably successful tenement but this is getting a little long in the tooth now. Promotion or I quit.

Season 2 - 08/09 - Falkirk

Media Predcition - 6th
Transfer Budget - 425k
Wage Budget - 1.45m per annum

So after a good first season, it was all about breaking into the top 4, job done; Just. A top four place finish was on the cards, in my opinion, from the start as the first quarter of the season we sat in the top 4 winning left, right, but not centre, Celtic and Hearts clearly my bogey team for the season. The 2nd and 3rd quarters were much quieter, we were settling down in a rhythm of win 1, draw 1, lose 1, well up until the last quarter where thankfully an accumulation of enough points helped me finish 4th. 4th spot has gained the added incentive of Europe to the frame, the UEFA cup, promising in the sense of finances and a higher reputation will be heading my way. All in all i am pleased at how the season went, i've not massively overachieved yet done enough to progress well. Although i'm in need of teaching my team to hold a lead and not draw, we amassed a total 14 draws this season. Not chuffed. League Table (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/LeagueTable-3.jpg)

Cups were not as good as last year, I forgot to mention i got to both finals of the cups, but lost both to Hibs. Anyway, this season was a more fairer reflection of teams ability in the cup, managing to lose in the Semi final to Celtic in the Scottish cup and yet again lost to Celtic in the quarters of the League Cup.

Transfers this season were a reflection on my ambition to take the club forward, not just season by season but in 2 to 3 seasons time. Not a large transfer budget was given but enough to secure the players i needed to make the team better, my first team signings of de Visscher from Aberdeen and Naysmith (before i sold him) from Sheffield Utd gave me some added quality on the wings and some much needed experience. As i said in my brief update parent clubs are such a help, mine Chelsea http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif were just what i needed, sending me di Santo, Scott Sinclair and Michael Woods; my attacking options were superbly boosted. di Santo scoring 17 goals as a second striker Finniagan. Woods ended the season with a helpful 6 goals and 22 assists. Sinclair coming from the wing scored 8 in 18 appearances (he was out for 3 months injured). The rest of my signings were youth, taking up much of my budget. Those youth are highlighted. Transfers (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/Transfers-3.jpg)

Finances gained little this season, but this down to higher wage and transfer budget.

Next Season I'm looking to clear some of the deadwood from the reserves to gain some cash for my deals in the summer. Also bring one or two youth through to add some more depth to the first team. Obviously to beat Celtic and Hearts and possibly win a domestic cup. Progressing as far as i can in Europe is a good target, at least group stages would be suitable for the club at this stage of time.

09/10 Falkirk Pre Season Update

What a transfer period for Falkirk, our increase in reputation has helped no end, on frees i've managed to bring in 2 premiership greats, Mark Viduka and Carlo Cudicini, both mid 30's, Carlo has at least 2 seasons in him, Viduka has that added class to help my attack, along with tutoring some of my youngsters along the way. I've also made some other good signings both on free's and for tidy sums. Pre Season Transfers (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/PreSeasonTransfers.jpg)

I only had 4 pre season friendlies but i feel it was the right amount. Scoring 19, conceding 2. It was a good test to get our goalscorers in form for the season ahead.

Beat Albion Rovers 5-1 (Finnigan 2, Cregg, Leonardelli, OG)
Drew 1-1 with Auchinleck (Higdon) (We played crap)
Beat Balkan Botevgrad 9-0 (Viduka 2, Aafjes 2, Lavie, Finnigan, McCarthy, OG, Crisci)
Beat Girvan 4-0 (Finnigan 2, McCarthy, Aafjes)

My Line Up looks like this now...

GK - Cudicini/ Corradini
DR - Barr/ Mazzina
DL - Scobbie/ Milne
DC - Gardner/ Leonardelli
DC - Aafjes/ Kiko
DMC - Lavie/ Schneider
MR - McCarthy/ de Visscher
ML - Vosseart/ Moutinho
AMC - Vrsic/ Ramsey
ST - Viduka/ Sigporsson
ST - Finnigan/ Crisci

Update

Well I finished 2nd with Val di Sangro but we lost in the playoff semis in a very disappointing fashion. This means as I stated that I would resign and seek pastures new. Nothing came up for a month or so until Brechin in the Scottish 2nd Division came calling. I decided I wanted to get straight back into football and if I can achieve promotion it will all be worth while.

A nice touch - when I resigned from Val di Sangro, 4 of my coaches resigned too - I've now got 3 of them at Brechin http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Set my reputation as Sunday League and was offered jobs in Sweden and Norways lowest leagues within a couple of days of holidaying. Decided I should update to 8.0.2 (but not use the updated databse) and start again and no I am in September and still no job.

Started a new game and got offered a job straight away in the depths of Sweden at Varmbols with a squad whose average age is 16, no money and with 10 games to go they want me to stay up 7 points behind 3rd from bottom with 3 points from 12 games.

09/10 Falkirk

So another season over and what a season, our previous league finish of fourth have us our first taste of European football and the higher reputation to bring in better players. I though that this season would be to disrupt the top 3, unsettle the likes of rangers or hearts, but oh how we unsettled them truly, Celtic were abysmal this season, i mentioned that after last season i would like to at least beat them once this season, we didn't just beat them once, nor twice, we managed to beat them a total 4 times this season. This gave us the impetus to go further than i thought. We managed to sustain a good run of results throughout the season, obviously the odd **** up here and there. We arrived at the league split with 6 games to go sitting 3rd, a draw against celtic and rangers; wins against dundee, hearts and hibs gave us the title. Yes i kid you not, we won the SPL, beyond my wildest of dreams. Would this be a step too far for Falkirk? League Table (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/LeagueTable-4.jpg)

As European football was beckoning this season for Falkirk, i needed to bring in a number of quality players to add depth and experience to my squad. From my previous pre season update i told you i had signed the likes of Viduka, Cudicini and Gardner, all released from those high profile premiership clubs. We also signed a number of younger but potentially great players. That combined experience with youth had paid off.

Finnigan had another top class season, alongside my new summer acquisition of Stefano Crisci from Parma for 275k. Combined they scored 65 goals between them. Viduka adding a crucial 7 from the bench. Gardner was a revelation in defence, both solid at the back and a menace in any set piece situation, taking advantage of the "corner bug" he scored 18 goals in 53 games. McCarthy came in at MR for 100k, his value soon shot to 1.8m by the end of the season, due to his consistent performances during the season. Vossearts at ML came in on a free and contributed 22 assists. Transfers (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/Transfers-4.jpg)

In my other small update i told you about my European forthcomings. We entered the UEFA cup in the 2nd Qualifying round and beating Modrica Maxima of Bosnia 7-1 on aggregate. The 1st round was a much tougher affair, FC Copenhagen awaited my challenge and challenge we did. A 3-2 home win set up a nervy away encounter where the away goal rule could be crucial. 1-1 what a result, we were through, exceeding my and the boards expectations. The group stage; and what a group we were drawn into: Fenerbahce, Ajax, Dortmund and Monaco. I expected nothing from them and thats just what i got. All bar a point, a 1-1 draw away to Dortmund. A good experience for the squad and new target for
next years competition; to win a group stage game.

So a vast improvement in the team was made and the break up of the old firm was complete. Fantastic. This is my current squad. (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/CurrentSquad.jpg) There are a few additions on free, LuaLua, Troisi etc.

A breif update..

Varmbols was a disaster the squad was way too young and inexperienced 3 draws including a 5 all draw with the top team being the highlight. Relegated with a game to go and promptly resigned..

Joined Melleruds again in Sweden, they were sitting 2nd from bottom with a game to go against the team in 2nd.

A 4-1 win and onto the relegation play-offs and after recording a 4-1 aggregate victory my league status was secured.

Building for the future..IFK Goteborg are now my parent club

I started a bit of a slow, relaxed career game - nothing hardcore, just to play a few matches here and there during a busy working period.

Running 6 nations:
Belgium, England, Holland, France, Germany and Italy. (not all the leagues in all those nations, but at least 2 in each).

Applied to all available jobs, and after about a week I was offered, to my slight surprise, the Moroccan national job, which I accepted. Perhaps not the most realistic start of a managerial career, but I was in the mood for it, so what the heck.

Two of the club jobs haven't been filled in yet since then, but it looks like I'll be limited to international management for now. I'll remain on the lookout for a club job as well though.

I don't have any big plans for my time at Morocco, just have some fun in a tournament or two. They're already practically certain of qualifying for the Cup of Nations, so that will be the first objective.

after the recovery from last years early seasons mistakes, i brought in a new GK, DC, ML and MC to spice things up a tad.
I have now finished the 2011/12 season. We were predicted a mid table pos, 10th. At the end of the pretty good season, we finished 2 places up from that, 8th. The plan for next year is to either get 1st or 2nd and go up. At the end of the 2011/12 season, i got offered a new contract, 3 years. the plan was to get in to the premier division and remain there. i plan on staying with them for these next 3 years, going up next season, avoiding relegation next, then coming in a respectable mid-table pos or higher. Then maybe move on to higher things http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Not updated in a while. Just finished the 2012/13 season with Peterborough and Cameroon.

Cruising through qualifying with Cameroon, played 8 won 7 drawn 1. Miles in front at the top with 2 games left.

Slightly different with Peterborough, we had an awful first half to the season, hovering just above relegation. Second half went a whole lot better, my two main strikers Fraser Campbell and Karl Hawley started banging them in, together with Kapo who came on a free from Birmingham we started winning most games by 3 and 4 and ended up finishing in 10th.

Not sure what happened halfway through but we suddenly turned into one of the best teams in the league.

Now about 8 games into the new season after signing some real quality in the summer. Somehow managed to land Jermaine Pennant from Liverpool who is still a quality Premiership player, also got Rowan Vine and Tom Taiwo on loan from Chelksi and a couple of other decent squad players, so far we are 2nd in the league so hopefully we can keep it going.

League

This season was all about making sure last season SPL win wasn't a fluke. It was not the case, hovering around the top 4all season without really troubling the league leaders, the only reason i can put my finger on as to why this was the case was our European adventures. Unlike last season we were unable to take control of any winning situation against the other top 4 teams. A crippling aspect of the season wasmylack of funds to buy more top players unlike Celtic who spent 10mil on Andy Johnson; 28.5mil overall on players, Rangers spending 13mil on Nicky Shorey and a few other players and finally Hearts buying another number of Eastern Europeans. Whilst we settled for our 1.5m budget. Our League did pick up in the end, well literally at the end of the season when it came to the relegation/championship split, we were sitting 3rd and Celtic had already won the league, myself, rangers and hearts were all playing for the 2nd Champions League place. It came to the last game of the season and we needed to win against Hibs to ensure 2nd place, Rangers had Celtic, we won, as did Rangers, so we came second on superior goal difference. So other than the poor transfer budget, the amount of draws we suffered was a disappointing factor of this season. I know Celtic were run-away league winners but if we had drawn 5 less games we would have been 10 points better off and only 3 points behind them.

Champions League

Champions League for this season, seemingly another step too far for Falkirk, drawn against Shaktar in the 3rd round qualifiers we had our work cut out.We battled for a 1-1 draw at home after taking the lead and amazingly drew 3-3 away from home, after taking the lead 3 times. Away goals enough, thankfully. The group stages would be too much for us surely, drawn against the giants of Manchester Utd and Ajax, with AEK completing the group, i could only hope for a 3rd place finish over AEK. With a win and a draw against AEK, we held 3rd comfortably. We would have to beat Ajax at home for any hint of contention to qualify for the next round. Amazingly yet again we produced a display fine enough to beat many other teams. 4-0 at half time, done and dusted. I knew we wouldn't get anything from Old Trafford so we needed a AEK win over Ajax to go through, we lost 3-1, Edison Cavani dominating lack of pace at the back. Luck was on our side though, a 1-0 win for AEK sent us through. I watched the draw for 1st knockout round, we came out of the hat first, a home draw.....to Barcelona. A fairy-tale result for the fans. At home we were 2-0 down, until a second half inspired by Finnigan, his 3 goals helped us to a surprisingly shock 3-2 (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/ShocResult2.jpg) win over the European Giants. The away game was a different affair, we lost only 3-0. Our European dreams for this season were over, but we got further than anyone would have dreamt of.

Cups

After forgetting to mention the domestic cup competitions in the last update i though i would make an effort this time round. Oh and by the way i actually won the Scottish cup 4-1 over Hearts last season. Unfortunately this season i was beaten by Kilmarnock in the 5th round. But this time round i got to the final of the League Cup, against Rangers, which we lost 5-3.

Transfers/Squad

Building on the squad for season would be trying to make the best of the free transfer market, i signed boa morte for some back up at ML, but wasn't needed due to other players like James Troisi another summer signing could filling there. Kazenga LuaLua was another signing mainly as back up on the right hand side. About a quarter of the way through the season, Sheffield Utd bid 4.4m for James McCarthy, a bid which in my eyes was not good enough but my chairman thought otherwise. After realising as part of the deal signing him i had to give 50% of the next transfer to Hamilton. So with only 2mil to to spend on sufficient replacements, i needed to spend wisely until a scout unearthed a gem, another Italian striker who was only 18, he was worth 3.8mil, so i stuck in a bid of2mil + 50% sell on. They surprisingly accepted and he was on his way. Transfers (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/Transfers-5.jpg)

So through the 4 seasons i have played as Falkirk i have accumulated this Squad (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/MainSquad.jpg)

So next season we need to cut down on the amount of draws and bring some more success to Falkirk. Preferably winning a domestic competition and challenging more closely for the league. Champions League for me again next season, so anything like this season run would be quite awesome.

December 20th 2007 (Currently managing: Morocco)

Quick update.
Still no club job, though managers are only starting to get sacked in the last few weeks or so. I've been rejected by a few English League Two and Italian Serie C teams though, which is pretty much as low as it gets in my game. I guess my best chance will be a Belgian Div.3 team, once one becomes available, since that's my nationality.

Meanwhile, I've had a few games under my belt in charge of the Moroccan national squad. The jury is still out, I'd say.

Two competitive matches played, African Nations qualifiers: an easy 0-2 win against Seychelles, and a poor 3-2 loss at Burkina Faso. Luckily Morocco was already nicely in the lead in their group, so that one win was enough to qualify. The tournament starts in a month or so.

Two friendlies played as well: an easy 1-3 win at Macau, and a proper trouncing by France, 7-1, which clearly highlighted the weaknesses in our squad.

The main weakness: goalkeeper.
There are only 5 Moroccan goalies in the dbase, three of which are total crap, and two are crap-with-potential. So my starting goalie is an 18 year old who plays for De Graafschap reserves. Two stars current ability, which makes him the best available, and he should be able to improve quite a bit.
There's a 15-year old with higher potential still, but I can't call him up yet, I'm guessing because of his age.
Good news for the future, but at the moment the goalkeeper situation is a bit painful, especially if the 18 year old is unavailable, as was the case against France.

Not uncommon for African teams, quality defenders are hard to come by as well. A few decent ones, but not a lot of depth in that area.
Surprisingly, the same goes for strikers. One great one (Chamakh, who plays for Bordeaux), but then it goes downhill fast.

The one area where we have plenty of options is attacking midfielders - left, right and center. Hardly any straight MCs or DMs though.

Results so far have not inspired great confidence in me for the African Nations next month, but we'll see. After that tournament I'd like to focus on a club job, so if I don't get the sack, I may resign from the Morocco job. (Especially if I keep getting turned down by clubs - I have a feeling it may be easier to land a club job when I'm completely unemployed.)

Started auto reputation.
Leagues loaded...argentina/brazil to lowest.
england down to D2, italy to C1. most other european top divisions.

i started in january 2008, when the brazilian season starts, and after looking at prospective clubs, i settled on Atletico Goainiense, brazilian ND3.

a huge 54000 seater stadium suggested they were a sleeping giant, but the finances weren't in too good shape.

board expectations were to reach the final stage of ND3 within 2 years. the season starts with the state championship which i reached the semifinals of, to the happiness of board/fans.

the squad i inherited had talent, but was ageing in the extreme. 3 key players were over 35 years of age so i had to bring in some youth.

in my first season i did reach the finals of ND3, so the board are happy. but by this point i was roughly 400k in the red. despite not having spent a cent on transfers and being well under the wage bill. conveniently in the december (2008) two players came back from loans to D1 teams. the chairman sold them for a total of 700k, i could have got more but it balanced the books.

i set up a parent club (santos), who loaned me backup striker junior as well as young midfielder patrik. in the 2nd season of the state champ i got to second but knocked out in semis again by perpetual rivals Villa Nova!

Now in second go at ND3, been given a really tough draw to be honest. in 3rd place with 4 games to go, i'll update if i get/miss promotion!

Ok. So I'm giving Gundo's Challenge a proper rest, (Not sure if I'll actually continue it) because I got bored with it, and the lack of talent, and the low league rep was killing me. I've decided to to start my own game before embarking on Dafuge's Challenge.

Nation's Loaded (All loaded nations have all leagues within that nation loaded)

England
Germany
Holland
Italy
N. Ireland
Spain
Scotland

Players have be loaded from about another 30 nations, (Mainly major European nations, South American Nations and African Nations), just to keep the regen bias quite fair in years to come. (We don't want an average England team dominating world football now, do we.)

For the first time since FM06 http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif - I will be taking over my beloved Arsenal - (I don't remember why I didn't play with them in FM07 http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif ) but I miss being the manager of Arsenal.!

The reason I've loaded extra nations is because I may move clubs, (although very unlikely), but also because after a while, I may take on a second club in the lower leagues of the nations, and I like seeing actual league tables for certain leagues.!

Anyway, I'll give some small updates at the end of seasons, until there are pretty much no Original Players left, when I'll begin full season updates.

Its going to be fun managing a big team now, after Knockbreda.! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
