shanks Posted September 18, 2009 Share Posted September 18, 2009 Was looking at the Getafe legends list when i noticed that Alfonso is a legend at Getafe. Strange thing is he has neither played for nor managed/coached Getafe in his career. Also he does not list Getafe as one of his favourite clubs. Is this an error or is he genuinely considered a legend of the club for some unapparant reason? Edit: Just looked on Wikipedia and it says that Getafe's stadium is also named after him. How bizarre! Getafe CF's stadium, the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, is named after him, despite the fact that he never played for his hometown club (or even once in the ground) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

swisso Posted September 18, 2009 Share Posted September 18, 2009 Bit of a strange decision to name a stadium after a City legend who had no affiliation with the club and even played for rivals Real Madrid But perhaps they're quite proud of Alfonso heralding from their City?
