Challenges

Best Challenge

The pure and simple award, and the one that has its first place in the running order for good reason, despite not featuring in the first awards. The winner of this will be emulating the success of dafuge’s challenge, last year’s winner.

The award goes to…

dafuge's FM09 Challenge with 19 votes out of 30.

dafuge and his challenge take the award again. It’s the basic big-club to small-club format which has inspired so many others, which is why this has won this award despite a fairly unchanged formula.

Near Misses

These were the best of the rest of the nominations, but didn’t make it into the top three for your decisions.

Razer82’s FM09 Small Club from a South American Nation Adventure Challenge

Well done daf' date=' best challenge year in year out. Next year's challenge could be even better with the competition editor.

May get vaguely near to semi succeeding one year! :D[/quote']

Next year should certainly be interesting, with a major change possibly in the pipeline.

Hardest Challenge

The aim of any challenge creator is to make their challenge difficult without alienating people. Still, the winner here has made their challenge a tough nut to crack. Gundo’s won it last year and the San Marino “Double” in 2007, and the latter is up for it again.

The award goes to…

Danny Roberts Challenge: Difficult GODLIKE with 13 votes out of 30.

With the aim of this challenge being to manage a player to scoring 1,000 goals, it no surprise that people have found NepentheZ’s challenge difficult. In the end, it took the award with close opposition from the San Marino “Double” Challenge.

Incredibly difficult challenge as always, well done.

I've mentioned it quite a bit but it is yet to be confirmed.

I'm hoping to add the 7th or 8th tier of English football to the challenge.

I reckon just adding 1 more tier is a good shout, as it opens up so many more available teams (plus allow me the chance to play as Gosport Borough!). Going down to another level and the players ability can't differ too much surely. Will look forward to it anyhow.

7th tier looks the most likely, although my local team is in tier 9 ;)

Most Enjoyable Challenge

Obviously you won’t stick to a challenge unless it’s enjoyable, or if you do you are a masochist. The winner here is among the best because “fun factor” is arguably the most important key to challenge success. They will also join Gundo’s challenge, and dafuge’s, who won it in 2007 and last year respectively.

The award goes to…

Wallace v Roberts 2009 and dafuge's FM09 Challenge each with 13 votes out of 30.

Razer82’s challenge struggled, unfortunately, pitted against two of the most popular and enjoyable challenges on the forum. It’s little surprise that there was no room between them, and they share the award.

Most Popular Player

Real Life footballers gather a cult following but so too do those from Football Manager. This award is given to the favourite footballer, real or fake, based on their performances in the challenges. Both the previous winners are now legends in their own right: Kyle “Super Kyle” Wilson from 2007 and Paul Wallace from 2008.

The award goes to…

Andrew Smylie with a phenomenal 23 votes out of 30.

Everyone involved in the running of the awards was predicting a hands-down win for Smylie, and it’s actually a congratulations to his rivals for taking 7 votes from him. However, triumph is Smylie’s for his work at NepentheZ’s Knockbreda.

Best Failed Challenge

Not all challenges can find fame, because people can’t play too many games at once. However, there is quality in many that is not recognised because of this time constraint. The winner here, who will join My Big Fat Goalkeeper can Score more than Your Big Fat Goalkeeper from 2007, and last year’s Monthly Challenges, is a diamond in the rough. Who knows, maybe next year?

The award goes to…

Extremes of Europe Challenge with 17 votes out of 29.

Geographical arrangement isn’t a common theme for a challenge and that is part of this challenge’s quality. It sparked a lot of initial interest but BenArsenal will have to make do with this award for this year.

Best Challenge Completer

Credit is due to the user that completes the most challenges in one year. It is a truly great feat, as many people don’t even manage one! The Hall of Fame helps with this, so next year you will probably know one award winner in advance!

The award goes to…

daemonic who completed 4 of 5 small club to big club challenges.

A truly great tactical wizard and challenge completer, to complete 80% of the forum’s major challenges is spectacular.
