11Clarkie11
Just wondering if in FM 2009 there will be a designated player slot for each team in the MLS. So each year a team can buy a top-class european player.

Inkstier
It already exists in FM 08, albeit a little buggy and not the way it's done in real life. The Designated Player slot is there in place of Key Player designation. So normally key players are called First Team or something basically. Hope they make a little more like it really is in the MLS in the next version though.
11Clarkie11
Oh thanks. Could you tell me please though how you offer a player this designated spot in FM 08. And how do you believe it could be improved in FM
looknohands
The player will ask to be a key member when you offer him a contract (anytime someone requests more than $325,000 a year, they'll automatically become a designated player.) Using Toronto FC, I signed Maurice Edu as my DP for $450,000 a year, as his asking salary made it impossible to sign him as a first-teamer for $325,000 yearly, even after I offered a $200,000 signing bonus. Unfortunately, my goalie Sutton and Marvell Wynn both wanted over $500,000 per year, so I had to sell them off. The biggest problem I have with the DP slot in 08 is the cap of $825,000 salary. Good luck finding a quality player that would come over from Europe for that kind of pay!
