IMT
Has anyone ever seen a free kick given for a keeper picking up a backpass? It occured to me that in all my years of playing cm/fm I have never seen one happen.
roykela
I have not seen one at all, in any FM/CM game.

Wee Aja
But then again when was the last time you saw one in real llife You see them occasionally throughout the season, can't put an exact figure on it but I'm sure it's 5+ in the Premiership alone. Good point by the OP - I've never seen one in CM/FM.
CowSimao
But then again when was the last time you saw one in real llife Happened in a Sporting vs. Porto game 2 seasons ago.
roykela
Happened in an Arsenal game last season (or the season before). Almunia decided to pick up the ball, for some weird reason.
erik86
Never seen it on the game, I think if they programmed it in, it would be like the GKs giving it straight to the attacker which happened way to often in previous versions.

Yeah this was last season and the opposing team got an indirect free kick about 12 yards out.
roykela
Lol. You remember what team they were playing? Would be kinda annoying if it happened to your own team in the game. But it would be good if it was in the game; from a realistic perspective
Elrithral
I remember Shearer scoring one, can't remember if it was for England or Newcastle. The opposition all crammed onto the goalline, every single one of them ducked as he smashed it past them, would have taken thein head off if they hadn't
viperk1
It happened in the Portsmouth v. Liverpool game last season: From the Guardian's 'as it happened': Crouch nearly sets up his old team-mate Kuyt with a terrible backpass. Kuyt is beaten to it by James, who palms it away from danger - but that's an indirect free kick. The ball is about six feet to the right of the penalty spot. It's shifted just to the left by Alonso. Aurelio gives it a welt towards the bottom-right corner - and it simply arrows into the net. Game on. If Benitez gets away with it here, he is a very lucky manager. If I remember rightly, this was Tony Adams' last match in charge of Portsmouth.
Draakon
Just couple of games ago in FM09 I saw my opp. goalie catching a ball on the line of penalty area and referee called for handling. GK received yellow card and my team got a freekick from the edge of the area. I was quite surprised, because I've never seen something like this in FM-series. There were no players around GK, so his handling didn't stop my attack or anything. Have never seen the backpass situation though.
el sid
Also happened in the Man Utd v Aston Villa match last season iirc
messi
Also on the subject of backpasses, is it just me or do you players tend to hit 50 yard backpasses to the goalkeeper despite being in the oppositions half?

AlexNFFC
No, I've never seen one on the game, but, like people have said above, it happens very rarely in real life.
