erik86
Am I the only one who stays away from african players because of the very annoying African cup of nations?? Just annoying especially if you get injuries in Jan/Feb of that season too..
Mojby
Nah - i stay away from Africans as well. If they are regulars then it is a pain when the disappear for months. Not worth the hassle.
erik86
Its a shame coz Drogba, Essien etc are class on the game.... Like you said, not worth the hassle.
nni
No, Mourinho also dislikes african players because of this .
erik86
Yeah like Essien, Obi Mikel, Drogba, Kalou......
nni
Yeah like Essien, Obi Mikel, Drogba, Kalou...... Oh, sarcasm! You would have no way of knowing this but mourinho wrote a controversial article several years ago about how, given same quality players, he would prefer not to sign africans (because of the CAF). Consider yourself informed.
Suge
I sign good players no matter where they come from. The African Cup is pretty irrelevant when you're managing a team in Finland because the season doesn't start till May.
uusinjsh
I've never had big problems because of CAF. Yeah, I was forced to use some backup players, but that's 1,5 month in 2 years.. if u can't replace max 3-5 players then think about quality of your reserves not complain about CAF. i've revealed some nice talents, 2-3 players who usually didn't get a lot of playing time shone while usual first-team players were in CAF.. phnompenhandy
Why not just make sure you have sufficient cover? If you can afford international players like these, you can't be too hard up?
Damian227
Never bothered me at all, with a good size squad with a back up for all positions and some promising youth who play my cup games to also cover, it never really effected me.
SnoopLeHoff
I am African so I always try to sign the odd African player. I see the African Nations Cup as a chance for my other players to try and win spots in my first team. If they play exceedingly well then returning players have to wait for their chance to get back into the team.
aaron1606
African Cup of Nations = perfect opportunity to blood some youth
SCIAG
I don't actively shy away, no. My star player is an African centre back- fortunately, whilst he was away for the ACON his back up stepped up, scored a few goals and kept his place when the first choice returned from Africa.
