obinna
How the hell does AI get their supporting forwards to track back? I can only do this with specific man marking. AI's foward seems to mark any central midfielder.
cemthetriton
This may be better suited for the tactics forum, but the reason they track back is because their mentality is most likely much more defensive than your forwards' mentality. Defensive mentality does not mean that the player is going to be playing as a defender, but that they will be more cautious when taking their individual instructions into account. For example, if you have forward runs set to often, but the player's mentality set to "defensive," they will make forward runs often, but only with respect to their mentality (meaning they will get forward, but only if it has a very high probability of succeeding or being involved in the play). The same can be said of tracking back. If you set the player's mentality to defensive, they will track back, most likely be more cautious when in possession, both by holding up the ball/ensuring the retention of possession, and/or by playing a backwards pass to an open teammate, rather than a through ball or forward pass with a lower success rate. Not sure if that made sense, but hopefully that helped! Good luck!
