Wayne\'o
just looking around at some player history and i notice newcastle sign a player and it says the free is undisclosed, iv never seen this before, how does a transfer fee get kept undisclosed? phnompenhandy
I think IRL if the club is a plc it has to be disclosed to the shareholders at some point. I guess a privately-owned club doesn't have to.

BenArsenal
...or more to the point, why are any transfer fees ever disclosed? Cant see who benefits. So that they don't get any uproar about massive fees paid out, like Ronaldo. Some clubs like to keep things hush hush.
erik86
Thats something that should be abolished IRL. Why cant everyone know how much a player cost?
elgreenio
Thats something that should be abolished IRL. Why cant everyone know how much a player cost? because people like Bobby Zamora could get jealous
BenArsenal
You get endless debates about whether Player so-and-so is worth that much. Look at Berbatov and all the endless bashing about how he's not worth 30 million. What difference does it make if he was bought for 25 million, or 20 million, or whatever? Having a price tag on a player means that the public pressure to live up to it is immense, through no fault of their own, so that could be a reason why they sometimes remain "undisclosed". erik86
But even if they are undisclosed, the figure is often much speculated anyway so it would make not much difference... They might as well publish all fees.
BenArsenal
Yes, but an undisclosed fee would be diminished over time. Berbatov will forever be "the 30 million man".

silva_gunner
Its a common practice. Most fees are actually 'in the region of' and made up by the papers. Clubs like Arsenal use it to stop fans getting mad at how much we spend. Also, if a club knows you have sold a player for 30m or whatever, then they will try to get more money out of you. Wayne\'o
to be fair, doesnt matter if its undiclosed, the player him self knows what he has cost and will have the preasure of playing well, im just intreagued as to how this is implemented into FM thats all as iv never seen it,.. Magnakai Haaskivi
...or more to the point, why are any transfer fees ever disclosed? Cant see who benefits. Agents benefit; if an agent can say he brokered that Ronaldo deal, it may help him land clients, which leads to more deals in the long run. I'd wager that most of the leaks are from agents. phnompenhandy
valencia joined united for £16mil which everyone knows but stil went undisclosed Which reminds me of this little news item in football365 a couple of days back: "'Post-Ronaldo life at ManYoo has begun with the £16m signing of Antonio Valencia. The 23-year-old Ecuador international has signed a four-year contract after moving for an undisclosed fee.''
