Help please — steam error!! grrrrrr!

I have a Mac laptop and that's where I play fm09. Unfortunately, the disc drive just crapped out and I need to play on my PC desktop.

I downloaded Steam and have everything ready to go, but when I try to launch fm09, I get "The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request. Please try again in a few minutes."

I have tried over and over and over, but still can't play my freaking game.

How do I get around this?
