Player not showing up in the squad screen

I just transferred a promising Italian regen, and I want to play him in the friendly fixture where I can try him.

But, I can't see his name on the squad screen, it's just impossible to play him?!

What can/should I do?

Here's my reserve squad, the player I want is "Valerio":

Here's my first team squad without reserves ticked:

And, with reserves ticked - he doesn't show up!:

When I untick senior squad, he still isn't there:

Did the transfer go through yet?

OR maybe they got some dogey rule.

I signed garvan from a mexican team, but because he was 15 at the time he did not transfer to be until 3 years later!

They have a rule where the player must be over 18 to play for a foreign team.

No, he's in my squad. I know that, as I put him in Reserves first. But when I try to promote him to the main squad, he just doesn't show up and vanish.

Do you have a filters set on your first team squad screen (the Show Filters buttonin the top right). You could also try ticking the Reserve Squad option on the Filters panel, which will display your reserves in your first team squad screen.

Go to his profile (search his name) and then move to first team squad and he should show up

Of course I tried that, it just doesn't work.

Marquez - there's no need to bump your thread after just 30 minutes. Give people some time - this place goes pretty quiet on weekends.

Which game version are you playing? Is this FM'09, or an earlier?

I do remember hearing about this issue before - but the previous description involved a player with no "Natural" position, and he didn't show up under any circumstances; you couldn't get him to show for the Reserves, for example. (He couldn't play any position, so the Filter kept filtering him out.)

Have you tried, say, moving him to the Senior side and then asking one of your Assistants to pick the squad? Maybe he will show up then?

What does his Positions screen look like?

It sounds, to me, like you may want to post this in the FM '09 Bugs Forum - especially if you can upload your save-game, that should help SI figure out what's going on to fix it for future versions.

Did you check his Positions screen? If he has no Natural position, maybe try training him in a position? Failing that, I'd guess sell him on ...

Check if, when you send him to an affiliated club, your first team is an option?
