Buying off steam

Recommended Posts

Is this the same price as buying it off the shelf? Also is this a better option than looking for it in my town somewhere, as my ASDA and Tesco's are not selling it at the moment.

What are the pro's and cons?

You can activate via Steam (or via Uniloc) but you do not have to play through Steam no matter where you've got the game from (even Steam!)

Details below:

You can play it without loading up Steam by doing the following:

Go to C: Program Files - Steam - Steam Apps - common - Football Manager 2009

Inside this folder you will find the FM09.exe

Create a shortcut here, and drag it onto your desktop

The game will now work without running steam - make sure Steam is NOT already running when you do this.

Just think its better to have the disc as saves redownloading if anything does happen, plus easier to stick on another PC if you have one. But overall the download is just a rip off.

You can backup all your steam games on a disc, or externe hd or whatever. Steam then makes an install for your game, even including an autorun for discs.

Apart from that steam is really overpriced.

Shockingly so. The only benefit I can think of is that I had an impulse purchase on a Saturday night and Steam meant I got the game within an hour. But even so... think I'll certainly be shopping elsewhere in future!
