Currently on game 45 of the 2039/2040 Championship season and several aspects of the league are yet to be decided!

Okay, 2 from 4 teams will be joining Watford and will be relegated to League One. Nottingham Forest, Luton Town, Colchester United and Crystal Palace are the sides that could slip out of the league.

Remaining Fixtures: (Involving relegation sides)

Colchester vs Leeds

Luton vs Swindon

West Ham vs Crystal Palace

Wigan vs Nottingham Forest

But...

More interestingly (maybe?!) is the battle for the second automatic promotion spot. Okay, the teams from 2nd-6th are guaranteed a playoff place. Only 1 of 5 teams will get that final promotion spot. Southampton (My team!), Hull City, Leicester City, Wycombe Wanderers and Birmingham City are the sides battling it out!

Remaining Fixtures: (Involving promotion sides)

Bristol City vs Birmingham

Hull vs Ipswich

Leicester vs Huddersfield

Southampton vs Wycombe

Looks like several sides are in for a 'edge of their seat' last day!

Anyone brave enough to call it?

I'll post what happens tomorrow at some point! (If anyone is interested!?)

Right the final league games have been played!

At the bottom:

Colchester 1-0 Leeds

Luton 3-1 Swindon

West Ham 1-0 Crystal Palace

Wigan 2-1 Nottingham Forest

10 man Colchester picked up a huge victory thanks to a 86th minute winner from 20 year old Gary Pickering. Karl King was sent off for the hosts a minute before half time but Colchester stood firm and scored the winner late meaning they were going to be playing Championship football next season. Much to the delight of their Swiss board.

Luton ran out comfortable winners against Swindon. Kevin Downes and Alan Clifford but the host 2-0 before Alan Parry pulled one back for Swindon, but Clifford added his second and Luton's third to confirm the Hatters place within this division.

Palace travelled to Upton Park knowing they needed to win and hope results went their way to stay in the division. They had the worst possible start when ex Palace central midfielder Ollie Williams fired in as early as the third minute. The Croatian (yes Croatia) 3rd goal of the season was enough to send Palace down. Palace a side in debt, and possibly their two best players agreeing moves elsewhere, means bleak times for the South London side.

Wigan and Nottingham Forest played out an entertaining match at the JJB Stadium. Wigan took the lead early on when John Thompson scored. Forest levelled up qucikly, Chris Hendrikesn, the Norwegian 36 year old with a penalty. It was left to Wigan's Gary Young to score the winner for the Lancashire side with 30 minutes to play and confirm Forests relegation to League One.

The battle for 2nd:

Bristol City 1-0 Birmingham

Hull 2-0 Ipswich

Leicester 2-1 Huddersfield

Southampton 2-1 Wycombe

Birmingham City travelled to Bristol knowing that a win and a few results going their way would give them that final promotion place. Birmingham though put the pressure on the sides above them and were beaten by lowly Bristol City 1-0. An Ian Hopkins penalty on the hour mark was enough.

Hull were top of the table for the majority of the season but a spell in March saw them fall from 1st to 4th, but they entertained Ipswich. An efficent performance from Hull against mid table Ipswich meant they kept the pressure up on the other sides. A brace from Scott Marsh ensured the victory for the Tigers.

Leicester welcomed Huddlesfield to the Walkers Stadium. Huddlesfield have a good record against the top 6 this season which made this home game look tricky for the Foxes. Leicester though started qucikly and took the lead when thier underachiveing striker Alan McDonell scored after 8 minutes. Huddlesfield equalised, Matthew Atkinson on target for the visitors, but it wasn't long for McDonell and Leicester to get their second when he scored again. Leicester were fairly comfortable up to the final whistle and stood a chance!

Maybe the most intriguing tie of the promotion fight games. Two sides who both stood a chance of automatic promotion came head to head. Southampton who have only lost twice at home all campaign against a Wycombe side who were unbeaten in 7 games. The first half was cagey and tight affair, both sides looked worried about making mistakes. In the second half the game came to life. Southampton took the lead when 16 year old Southampton born midfielder Malcolm Bartholomew headed in a cross from Nigerian born Darlington Friday. Wycombe equalised 13 minutes from time, when right back Robert Mabaso scored a freak free kick. The Englishman from South African decent thought his 1st goal of the season may deny Southampton a automatic promotion place. But only two minutes later Southampton winger Ted Hudson headed home from a long throw from Saints skipper Stephen Walcott. Ted's winner sent the Saints to the Premier League for the first time since 2005!

thanks a lot, hopefully I'll get round to playing that tonight

Looks like Leeds have been replicating the trauma they put their fans through in the modern day. lets just hope it doesn't pan out like that in real life.

I would be interested in seeing a list of our managers if that's no trouble, thanks
