This was my first attempt at a sign-up and I have received much positive feedback which I am grateful for. As I have ran the sign-up, I have had many ideas about how I could run the second version of the sign-up differently and through some discussions on the ‘Ideas’ thread, I have come up with some slightly changed rules for this competition.

As you will realise if you are involved in or have read the above thread, the sign-up is not yet completed. We are reaching the latter stages and six players are remaining all with a chance to win and become the inaugural FMX-Factor champion. However, it will be completed within the next week so I have decided to begin sign-up for version two now as it shall take longer. This is because I have decided to expand the sign-up to forty people this time so methinks a lot of preparation may be needed.

Players will be invited to sign-up in the same way as in the original version although this time, person data will not be part of the sign-up process. Sign-up form will be posted on this thread in the near future. Please think carefully about whether you want to join as this sign-up does require you to contribute often (anyone who does not post for a fortnight without prior warning will be eliminated as a few have been this time) and it would be unfair to take the place of someone who would want to take part.

These forty players will be assigned teams and managers this time around rather than moving from club to club to club as in the first incarnation of the FMX-Factor. However, some players will be given opportunity to ‘choose’ their manager/team based on their performance in the auditions and in ‘Boot Camp.’ Once the competition starts, the players will compete against each other to earn the right to improve their player each season (determined by performances in most seasons although some themed seasons will occur) with the aim to outlast the rest and be the last player standing. Players will also have the opportunity to earn other bonuses or suffer consequences: CA/PA increases and decreases; special relationships with clubs and/or other perssonel; changes to their person data; pre-set injuries and/or suspensions etc …

Two players will be automatically eliminated each season for poor performance and then other players will be up for the CSE elimination vote: a vote where other members of the sign-up and the CSE forums will decide who is to be eliminated. However, there will be a further twist this time as any players that survive the vote will be put under added pressure the following season as they will be expected to improve their positional performance, i.e. number of clean sheets, tackle success rate, assists, goals scored etc … If they do not improve the following season, they will be eliminated – oooh, pressure.

All goalkeeper attributes are set to 10 as default. You have 30 attribute points to use to either increase/decrease these goalkeeper attributes. If you decide to reduce an attribute by 5, that costs 5 points. If you decide to increase an attribute by 5, that costs 5 points.

GOALKEEPING ATTRIBUTES: Aerial Ability, Command of Area, Communication, Eccentricity, Handling, Kicking, One on Ones, Reflexes, Rushing Out, Tendency to Punch, Throwing.

You cannot reduce attributes to give you more points to add onto other attributes: it doesn’t work like that! If your sign-up is not completely correctly, I will not accept it – be warned!

SIGN-UP APPLICATIONS

The sign-up form is coming in the next post (I promise). Interested CSE forum members will need to identify information about their player: i.e. age, nationalities, position, preferred moves etc … There will be a limit on the number of players in certain positions: 4 GK, 14 DF, 14 MF and 14 ST. They will also have points to ‘spend’ on player attributes to try and ensure that their player has the qualities needed to succeed in the FMX-Factor II. I have decided that eighteen participants in the first FMX-Factor are guaranteed a place in the FMX-Factor II (two were eliminated for not posting enough) should they wish to play again – once they submit their sign-up form, I will consider them confirmed. After that, applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis unless there are any issues that I know of.

The sign-up won't be starting for a while. It may even be the start of August before it gets started as I have a few commitments before that (namely my wedding and a honeymoon) so it'll be a while. There is no rush at all. Good to see lots of the people from the first sign-up ready to return and some new folks starting up. Forty people will take a while to get going anway so don't be expecting anything soon. I just wanted to get it started now to get a head start. Obviously the first has to finish first of all!
