Can this feature be included in FM 09?

I want the feature that players can die in some sort of car accident, cancer, heart attack while playing or something similar, and that games can be postponed or be 1 silent minute or something.

Perhaps it could be included for regens, but I wouldn't think a real footballer would be too happy when he 'dies' in FM. Isn't this similar to the nightclub scenario (turning up late to training etc) where it only occurs to regens?

Would only happen with regens and wouldn't add anything to the game IMO.

Just imagining the outcry of some of the people on here if that started happening. With the abuse that spills out of people's keyboards regarding minor issues like shots-to-goal ratio, can you imagine what would happen if your star player DIED IN A CAR CRASH?

I'm all for minor quirky things, but not so morbid.

- Perhaps, a club legend dies at some point; for example a favoured personel who is now in their 80s, and the team pays tribute

- Maybe a player could miss a day for a 'family emergency' - e.g. Bakary Sagna the other week for Arsenal. Would have to make this a very rare occurance though.

- Similarly, a player missing training/match due to the birth of a child (Xabi Alonso for example)

- You could perhaps, taking it to another level, have morale/performance impact based on these things, or personal things like a police caution or something. Again, would need to be very rare, and I'm not sure if it'd benefit the game.

Yeah just imagine your star striker dying. It doesn't really sit well the more I think about it.

Terrible idea and totoally morbid. The suggestion that a non-ficitious character should be diagnosed with cancer purely for quirkyness in game surely makes a mockery of a disease that has destroyed peoples loved ones and lives.

Once one of my players had "Family issues" or something, and he asked if he could leave for about two months to stay with his family in Brazil.

I accepted it, and he went on holiday, if i had not accepted it, his morale would have been terrible.

think i remember in cm 2001/02 (the one with the red box) that the then deportivo keeper (think his mane was molina) was unavailable at the start of the game for a long time because he was recovering from chemotherapy. unfortunately i cant put up a screen shot

Yes but that happened to Molina IRL, like Alan Stubbs. It wouldn't be right to have it pretend happen to someone.

I've stated above what I think are possibly some similar ideas that aren't so distasteful.

I just don't see what these sort of additions would add to the game. Like you said they are minor and quirky, but can we not leave the aprils fools thing as the only one, and leave Fifa to the quirkier side of the game?

I think "personal problems" is realistic enough and provides more than adequate scope for the player to use their imagination as to what might be the cause.

I don't know what it is, but there's something about seeing a slightly quirky feature once in a while, or seeing something unusual after X many weeks and months of playing the game. It can just give you a little kick to keep playing just a little bit longer.

Agree though that if it was even slightly over-done then it wouldn't have any positive effect.

today a player called Custic died in zadar, croatia. he crashed into the wall which is 3 meters from out line.

I don't understand why people want death in the game.

Yes, let's include cancer, heart attacks, rabies and team buses that crash on the way to matches!

And after that, why not also include leagues that get abandoned for wars and military coups d'état?

Death is not a good idea, but i think other elemants like personal problems, death in the family, childbirth, to much partying etc could work well.

This is problems that managers have to face often, and that would make the game more realistic, that is my thought atleast

Personal problems are already in-game, childbirth and that kind of stuff belongs to that aswell.

Partyin is in aswell, but only towards regens (I read in this topic).

Well we're on the farcical, I want a feature that would enable me to kick a boot at a player at half-time if he's playing crap. I also want an option that would allow me to sue a tabloid when they expose said boot incident.

I also want a legion of slaves to fan me and hold me up in the dugout during matches.

While were at it i want:

1: Military Coups to start in game if i'm managing a Banana republic ( say my team scores the leader stands to celebrate, bang)

2: streakers

3: bomb Scares

4: Floodlights Randomly turning off

5: balloons on the pitch

6: and a keep who can't receive a pass.

All things that 09 could stand to benefit from.

Imagine being told that your 19million pound(regen) had just died from cancer... It just wouldn't be right... plus, it rearely happens that a player dies! RIP for Custic tragic

We deal with many terrible things IRL. No need to have them while we are trying to have fun playing a game too. I don't need this kind of realism.

There were matches abandoned due to extreme weather in CM01-02. I reckon this would be sort of realistic in lower leagues, with the game having to be replayed at a later date, as long as its a VERY rare occurence.

Things like this do add to long term playability. Stuff like the regens going out socialising till the early hours add another dimension to the game, and give your players a sort of character, so I don't see why this couldn't be expanded upon in future editions (ie you getting messages from coaches saying they feel certain high-profile regens are focussing too much on 'co-curricular' activities like appearing in ads or promotions and how they feel this is impacting upon their efforts in training- but not in a gimmicky FIFA Manager way). Having said that, deaths/car crashes/cancer etc are too far.

Although this happens IRL i think this would be a bad idea. I could just see someone comming onto this forum and saying

although i like to play a realistic game i feel that maybe only past legends should die. e.g. A player you signed 5 years ago for your current club and became a club ledgend sadly passed away last night will you hold a minutes silence for this player?? Yes or No.

I just think that if SI implemented this into the game they would add realism good for certain players who have that idea of wanting to be an armchair Football Manager of *insert team* but dont have the qualifications. For example The Phil O'Donnell incedent at Motherwell earlier this season. But to be honest it would only be suitable for regens.

Although the second or third comment here about leaving on family business. I would like to see this, it may also affect morale, or if some players grandad passed away earlier this week the could play extra determined to score a goal in his loving memory. And leaving because your wife is in hospital pregnant i think this would add a bit to the game. Not alot but a bit.
