The price of the game is normally reduced at this time of year. The unfortunate side effect of this is that we now can't beat the record for the most weeks at no.1 in the full price PC chart, as we've moved to the budget chart. So at 21 weeks at no.1 in the full price chart, we'll have to be happy with FM08 being the joint second most weeks at no.1. A double shame, as our full price sales earlier in the week would have been enough to keep us at no.1, but the combined price of the games sold was below the threshold.

Very nice record, even if it's shared. It's nice to see that the company has a higher priority on making the game more affordable and pleasing the customers than setting records or keeping it full price until FM 09 comes out.

In the future, is there any way to beg retailers to keep you out of the budget line for a few more days, just to gain the record?

That said, if sales were still strong, why would they chose to drop the price? It makes no sense. As long as copies are shifting fast, why lower your margins to shift a few more? It's not like that many people intentionally wait for FM to go "budget"... It's cheap enough on release day at £25 most places.

to get the record next fm, get it out end of next month/early sept to combat it dropping this year :):) that means we get it sooner and it don't get dropped for a little longer

:)
