WTF!!! Well Done SI!!!! You Messed up!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok, just finished my first season of football manager, i sold a few players from my rangers team, and i had 7million in my transfer kitty, then i thought, excellent plus the board will give me my extra budget of about 3 million so i will have 10 altogether.

Oh how wrong i was.

They gave me 2.2million, and took away my 7 million i made from selling a few players.

thats 1.8 million less than last years budget, despite the fact i won the treble.

VERY ****ING GOOD!!!

This is more a reflection of board ambition rather than SI messing the game up? if you are an unproven manager, they might want to see a bit more in the second season to make sure you aren't a flash in the pan.

Also, check in your finances the % of transfer income you get to spend on players? if this is fairly low, I would say that the board consider financial stability is more important than on the field exploits?

It does seem strange that they are happy for you to have the money for 7 months and then suddenly take it away? You would have thought that the 7 mil would be kind of a bonus for the board and they would actually add to it rather than take it away?

Quit, become Celtic manager and condemn Rangers to never winning another domestic title!

I have done a Rangers game for around 7 seasons now and the board have never offered me more than 5 million to spend. They are quite stingy and very often I have had to make my own money through the sale of players.

To avoid your problem would have been to spend that money before the end of the season. Start looking before it ends and you will have the money to spend and the extra 2.2m you will be given as a minimum.

How you finding Rangers anyway? Dont sell Charlie Adam ever...free kick specialist.

How on earth can you be an unproven manager if you've just won a treble?

I'm wondering if the reason for this could be that in season 1 you went over you wage budget and run up a debt.

If this is the case and the board have reduced your player budget to address the debt and/or to ensure the ongoing stability of the clubs finances I'd say that this was a very worthy feature

Perhaps some more info around your finances and wage budget would help us consider this further

To be fair though, winning the Treble in scotland with Rangers is surely expected? in fact, I'm quite sure that Rangers and Celtic fans IRL expect to win the 3 competitions every season, so to do what is expected would still mean that the manager is somewhat unproven, if they did the same the next season and performed well in europe, then they would be a proven successful manager. Thus is why I said flash in the pan

finding them good, season came down to last game, celtic leading the league by a point, they got beat 4-0 from falkirk and i won 2-1 against motherwell.

it stupid they took it away, i earned that from selling players, i should be able to keep that.

They players were sold in the winter transger window, so they should have taken it then.

Just before the transfer window i asked for more money and they gave me 4 million, then they take it away????

whats the point???

I believe it needs fixed to be more realistic.

Are you sure about that? I think it's perfectly reasonable that budgets are set every year. There is no problem here really, the board are stingy, some are, some aren't. Have you asked for more?

And plus, it hasnt effected the clubs balance, the 5 million is apearing on our sheets.

I think someone on the board is corrupt icon_mad.gif </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Yep corrupt board members in the game, some Russell and Lewis shinanigans going on there!

You started a thread a few days ago stating that "Si had F***** up" because you couldn't win games. Now you've won the treble and have decided that the game is still f'd up because of financial constraints that evry team experiences at some point in time. Don't mean to be rude but just seems like you're a whinger.

To put the financial constraint in context, Southampton sold Walcott for almost £15m and have since suffered financial problems. Of course Southampton are not on a scale of Rangers but Rangers are not a money making machine in game just as they aren't IRL and have quite significant debt, they also spend relaticvely little every season so this all seems normal to me.

Rangers have won a domestic treble seven times in the last 60 years. With how strong Celtic are now, do you not think a manager who took them to that feat again would not be lauded?

Yeah I suppose it's a fair point, Unproven was probably a bad choice of word, maybe low reputation would have been better? But then again, I suppose you would have a fairly high national reputation if you won the treble?

I certainly wouldn't think they were fantastic, Celtic are extremely average under Strachan and the squad Smith has built (i.e. the in game squad) is extremely strong. As a Rangers fan, I fully expect the team to challenge and win the treble almost every year, nevermind how many time weve done it in the past. The only actual gauge for success in Scotland right now is Europe, with the added benefit of possibly beating Celtic in the league.
