Vintage
Hello Guys. This is going to be my first experiment in any Football Manager. I'm going to be using Fooball Manager 2008, Mainly because its quicker than Fm09 on my computer. Right, Here's the idea. Loving my local non-league teams at the minute, Around Newcastle, Northumberland, Sunderland & Durham, with Whitley Bay getting to the F.A Vase final and Gateshead in the Conference North Play-off Final. I thought. I wonder what it would be like having a super north-east league, So on development of this, I've placed all the non-league northern teams in Coca-Cola League Two. (Inc Darlington) All the teams in League Two just replaced the gap where the north-east teams dropped out. Some of the teams had a reputation of 0. All these got raised to just 150. The only other thing i changed was turning all the clubs into Proffesional outlets. Here are the clubs (with reputation in brackets) Alnwick Town (150) Ashington Town (150) Bedlington Terriers (300) Blyth Spartans (1050) Darlington (2850) Darlington Railway Athletic (150) Durham City (200) Easington Colliery (150) Gateshead Town (1200) Hebburn (150) Horden Colliery Welfare (150) Jarrow Roofing (150) Morpeth Town (150) Newcastle Benfield (150) Newcastle Blue-Star (550) Newcastle Town (200) North Shields (150) Peter Lee (150) South Shields (150) Sunderland Nissan (150) Sunderland Ryhope Colliery Association (150) Washington (150) West Allotment Celtic (150) Whitley Bay (150) *Edit, also I've only loaded the English leagues up, With all players from England also loaded to give it more realism. ** Edit, Most clubs wear Blue for Home & away for White, If i re-do this experiment in bigger detail, i will change this, So apologies for the blue looking League Two. ***Edit, Most clubs except Darlington, Gateshead and Blyth have no manager installed. So i will also write about managerial appointments. Ok, Now i will be looking to find out if the teams can establish themselves in the Football League when starting off with such a low reputation. Also the teams that get promoted (will it obviously be Darlington, Blyth and Gateshead because of there bigger reputation) will the be able to stay in league one. Also what of the teams that finish bottom of League Two, will teams suffer straight relegations? Also what players can they attract? I shall be including team reports of each of these clubs and what happens, featuring cup games etc. If theres anything else you can think of me adding to a report let me know! I shall begin holidaying now!
brambleten
sounds like a good idea. i used to live in the north east, so i think im going to like this. Darlington should definitely win the league, as they outclass the other clubs in terms of finances and other areas, if all you have changed is the rep and the status
Vintage
Yeah there's no doubt Darlington will win the league, The big question is, Will the three teams that get relegated from League one every year, Win and get promotion straight back up. I predict they will for the first few seasons, but hopefully it'll get closer... Predictions by people are welcome
Lower Leagues Rule
Is it run on Full Detail (Please say yes) 1. Alnwick Town to avoid relegation on the last day of the season. 2. One of the "Big 3" will not be promoted. 3. Teams that get relegated from League 2 will drop to BSN and stop. 4. Teams relegated from League 1 will not win in Season 2. 5. A team promoted from BSP will win in season 2. 6. In 2020/2021 there will be none of these teams in League 2. Think those are some ones to give you some thoughts. james-99
like the idea pal, be interesting to see if any of the moved teams attract new players a get a squad worth challenging for promotion, as the 3 probably should get promoted who will win the last place through the playoffs. Vintage
League Two General Report 2007/08 So as you can see by the league table, There were no suprises on who went up in the three automatic promotion spots. Darlington won the league easily by 23 points, But did manage to lose 4 games, Blyth and Gateshead finished on 99 and 97 points respectively, But Newcastle Blue Star did push them all the way in the end settling for a spot in the play-offs which they didn't make it through, Darlington Railway Athletic beat Bedlington in the play-off final to clinch a suprise promotion. At the other end of the table the two teams who's league football status ended at their first season was Morpeth and Sunderland Ryhope. Morpeth struggled all season landing bottom and remaining there as early as the 16th game of the season. Finishing on 24 points, Sunderland Ryhope recovered from losing the first 11 games of the season to at least challenge Peterlee and Newcastle Benfield, In the end falling short and plunging out of league football. Bedlington's David Brown (a free signing from Nottingham Forest) finished with the golden boot award, Scoring 26 times.

Tomaldinho
Hey Vintage I've been following this, I must say I think things will get more exciting this season with a lot of the team gaining a LOT of reputation points, some of them an obscene amount to be honest but it should put them on more of a level playing field and hopefully they can survive against the teams coming down from League One. Vintage
Season Report League One Report League One Teams Blyth Spartans, Darlington, Darlington RA, Gateshead. As you can see by the pic of the table, 3 of the 4 went straight back down into League Two. Darlington managing to stay up, Obviously because they had a bigger reputation than every other team I put into League two, Can they stay in that league or maybe even go into the Championship. Darlington RA, Blyth and Gateshead went straight back down. Gateshead were relegated first and long ago, Blyth and Darlington at least put up a challenge. League Two Report League Two Teams Alnwick, Ashington, Bedlington, Durham, Easington Colliery, Hebburn, Horden CW, Jarrow, Newcastle Benfield, Newcastle BS, Newcastle Town, North Shields, Peterlee, South Shields, Sunderland Nissan, Wasington, West Allotment, Whitley Bay. Quite a predictable league in the end, The teams that went down from League One went straight back up, and even the teams that went up from the Conference all finished above our local teams. Newcastle Blue Star had a great season and were just out-classed in the play-offs. We’ll see how a third season affects our teams, Two teams that won’t be in league two next season are Newcastle Benfield and North Shields, Conference Premier Report Conference Premier Teams Morpeth, Sunderland Ryhope CA Oh dear, totally unexpected, Although I didn’t expect them to go straight back up, they both had a awful season. Sunderland Ryhope were all but relegated by Christmas, Morpeth got sent down on the final day of the season, Will they do well in the Conference North next year? Or will they drop out of the league all together. Note: For some reason, Sunderland Ryhope have been placed in the conference south next season. I don’t know why this is, an error by the makers maybe? So we will have one team in the Conference North and one in the Conference South next season. Vintage
Yeah i think it'll take a few more seasons, I'm hoping Morpeth and Ryhope don't suffer a hat-trick of relegations, because if they go out of the league system this early, i don't think we'd see them again. If its going to be similar for the next few seasons, is there anything anyone would like me to add to make it more interesting to you's?
Vintage
Ok i've now got a back-log of another two seasons to report on, There is a few twist and turns, and a couple of suprises, Apart from a few clubs i can see that after 10 years alot of these clubs will be in the conference or the north & south divisions. Check back tonight for a preview. Also coming in the 5th season a summary of each clubs finances, could there finances be limiting the clubs? Also i'm going to have a summary at each report where i will add on what i shall include in the fm09 version of this. If you's have any ideas give me a shout, because i'm going to start work on the database because i will be going into alot more detail.

Vintage
Season Report League One Report League One Teams Darlington. Darlington the only remaining team in League one avoided relegation by 5 points. League Two Report League Two Teams Alnwick, Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Darlington RA, Durham, Easington Colliery, Gateshead, Hebburn, HOrden CW, JArrow, Newcastle BS, Newcastle Town, Peterlee, South Shields, Sunderland Nissan, Washington, West Allotment, Whitley Bay. Well a major shock in that Gateshead completely dominated League Two bouncing straight back up to League One, Amazing season for them, Darlington RA lost in the play-off final, While Blyth were in the top 3 and play-offs most of the season before they collapsed, A sad story to see another 2 of our teams drop out of the football league. Vintage
Conference Premier Report Conference Premier Teams Newcastle Benfield, North Shields. Newcastle Benfield suffered another relegation, Completely failing to put up any fight and finishing rock-bottom, North Shields stayed up but only just. Conference North Report Conference North Teams Morpeth. Morpeth stopped the rot and didn't make it a hat-trick of relegations, Have they found their level or could they mount a challenge back into the Conference Premier next season? Conference South Report Conference South Teams Sunderland Ryhope CA Sunderland Ryhope shouldn't have been placed in the Conference South but for some reason they were, And they nearly went down, Surviving on the last day of the season. Note: For some reason, Sunderland Ryhope have been placed in the conference south next season. I don’t know why this is, an error by the makers maybe? So we will have one team in the Conference North and one in the Conference South next season. As have Newcastle Benfield for the next season. Why is this? DodgeeD
in the process of writing up the 4th season, theres been some major shocks. my keyboad is broken atm on my laptop.I can't use m or f etc so im taking it in to get fixed tomorrow. Wow - they must have been really major shocks! Seriously though, as a former resident of the North-East (went to the University of Newcastle for three years), I'm following this thread with interest. The change in club rep is something I'm keeping an eye on as it's always a gripe in the 'small club to big club' challenges that it increases too slowly. I noted in the last report that Gateshead now have a higher rep than Darlington. Maybe they can stay up next season. KUTGW

Vintage
Season Report 4 League One Report League One Teams Darlington, Gateshead. Big news is that Gateshead survive. Could they now push up the league one table in future? Darlington just miss out on play-offs. Hopefully they can push up too. League Two Report League Two Teams Alnwick, Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Darlington RA, Durham, Easington Colliery, Hebburn, Horden CW, Jarrow, Newcastle BS, Newcastle Town, South Shields, Sunderland Nissan, West Allotment, Whitley Bay. IMG][/url] Blyth and Darlington RA both secured play-off spots but lost. It seems to me that from 13th down, All those local teams are going to just stay there until they have all been relegated. Is there any hope for those teams?
Vintage
Conference Premier Report Conference Premier Teams North Shields. PeterLee, Washington. It just isn't going well for the teams that come down from the league, With Peterlee and North Shields relegated again. Washington though survive. Can they stay in this league or even try and get back into the league? Conference North Report Conference North Teams Morpeth. Morpeth just missed out on the play-offs here. I do hope they can secure promotion next season. Conference South Report Conference South Teams Newcastle Benfield, Sunderland Ryhope CA# For some absurd reason we now have two teams from the north east, in the conference 'south' Football manager 2008 mustn't have a system set-up to sort out the locality of teams. When Sunderland Ryhope and Newcastle Benfield dropped out of the conference premier, Surely two teams nearer the southern teams should have been placed in this division instead? anyways both teams secured mid-table places. No signs of a team dropping out of sight. Yet. Note: For some reason, Sunderland Ryhope have been placed in the conference south next season. I don’t know why this is, an error by the makers maybe? So we will have one team in the Conference North and one in the Conference South next season. As have Newcastle Benfield for the next season. Why is this? Vintage
Season Report 5 League One Report League One Teams Darlington, Gateshead. Gateshead not only survived again but they finished above Darlington who had a disapointing season. League Two Report League Two Teams Alnwick, Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Darlington RA, Durham, Easington Colliery, Hebburn, Newcastle BS, Newcastle Town, Sunderland Nissan, West Allotment, Whitley Bay. Highest of our teams in Blyth finishing a disapointing 8th. Two more teams go down, Hebburn and Easington Colliery. Very disapointing. I expect Blyth, Bedlington, Darlington RA & Newcastle BS to survive in this league for along while. The rest i've barely no hope for.
Vintage
Conference Premier Report Conference Premier Teams Horden CW, South Shields, Washington. Its still not going well for the teams dropping out of league football, South Shields go down and Wasington & Horden CW stay up by 1 or 2 points. Conference North Report Conference North Teams Morpeth. Morpeth just missed out on the play-offs by one point. They were 2nd, Losing their last 3 league games of the season. Conference South Report Conference South Teams Newcastle Benfield, North Shields, Peterlee, Sunderland Ryhope CA# Well there it is. Newcastle Benfield suffered another relegation, This time into oblivion. Will we ever see them again in this experiment? I hope so. Peterlee and Sunderland Ryhope secure mid-table positions. And North Shields missed out on relegation at the expense of Benfield. Note: For some reason, Sunderland Ryhope have been placed in the conference south next season. I don’t know why this is, an error by the makers maybe? So we will have one team in the Conference North and one in the Conference South next season. As have Newcastle Benfield, Peterlee and North Shields Why is this?

Russ_WWFC
I am loving this. Interesting to see that not many of the teams that were switched have made it back yet. I imagine my team Wycombe are still enjoying cold Tuesday evenings at the likes of Victoria Pleasure Grounds, Goole. Newcastle BS should have a decent chance. They play at Kingston Park (Newcastle Falcons) so they have a good stadium. Another note is that you never have issues with ground grading on FM, in normal games I mean
Vintage
Yeah your right about Newcastle BS i hope. I think that the fact that a lot of teams i inputted into the league don't have reconised stadiums. I think i'm going to end this experiment at about the ten-year-mark. And start up the Football manager 2009 one, Having alot more edited in the teams to make them all even etc. I've just holidayed season 6 before and there's some suprises. Russ_WWFC
I think I have been to most of them grounds. Even Newcastle Town which is in STAFFORDSHIRE!! http://www.newcastletown.co.uk/content.php?page=How%20To%20Find%20Us I'd like to think that the teams will come good in the end and will stop getting relegated each year
Vintage
Yeah haha. i noticed Newcastle Town was from Staffordshire after i'd included them in. I'd hoped no-one would notice. They won't be apart of the next one. Russ, I'm offering you the choice of picking a team in the north east to replace them. If you can find one. Russ_WWFC
Thackley and Norton & Stockton Aincients are a couple that spring to mind. At least your experiment proved popular, I notice Hartlepool felt compelled to join in in one of the leagues!
