What position do you consider to be crucial to YOUR teams play?

I think the obvious answer is the Defensive Midfielder.

I always make sure I have a top of the mark Defensive Midfielder. Hassling the attack before it reaches the defence can sometimes be the difference between a clean sheet or not. Javier Mascherano is always my key player in my Liverpool side.

If I had to choose another, I would pick goal keeper.

I never felt a top-class keeper was vitally important until I started a save with Juventus. Gianluigi Buffon was immense. Obviously his importance is emphasised by his influential figure as captain/vice-captain. He was crucial to my attacking player and I could often push players forward because of his ability to keep clean sheets.
