Duplicate product code problem,

Trying to install FM 09,

I type in the product code click next then it comes up with duplicate code & won't let me continue,

I Got the game off ebay second hand so probably yes,

Have been on the steam support website and emailed them with no response,

Might be possible the vendor still has the game installed and registered. Don't know what to suggest if that's the case.

If the vendor unistalls the game and deactivates their steam account will the game work on my computer??

If the vendor has used up his 5 activations, you may well be snookered.

You should be able to see how many computers it's currently activated on and unactivate them.

Yeah, but what if he was blisfully unaware of the activation? The seller may not have advertised it as such and its not mentioned on the box. The only people who knew before purchase were people who use the forums, which as we can see, the OP doesnt/hasn't.

To be fair most/a lot of PC games have activation or similar now, thats why some videogame stores don't do trade ins on PC games.
